Default Need help on Transmission installation!

Ok. So I have a 99 z28 camaro m6. I removed the tranny and now when I am trying to put it back on the holes for the screws aren't aligning !! Has anyone had this problem or something similar. Does the clutch disk require something special to be aligned? I got the alignment tool and I'm pretty sure I installed the clutch right. Please help!

BTW I installed a spec 1 clutch from the ws6 store.

One more thing, is the washer necessary behind the slave?

Make sure alignment tool slides in and out easily, and put the trans in neutral, then just be patient it will go. Shim is not necessary unless you you need it. Good luck

The tool slides in and out. I just noticed that the guides aren't going in, now i'm thinking my shaft might be bent. Thanks for the reply.

Really doubt the input shaft is bent, Kinda tricky getting it aligned with the pilot bearing though.

did you figure out the trick to it? I had the same problem a fews weeks ago, it was a pain but eventually we got it close enough to use the bolts to pull it in the rest of the way. I had to drop my tranny again and am going to re-install it today, I hope it goes in much easier this time though!

you just have to go ape **** on it and jiggle it in. this was better on the ground with the jack stands fully extended cause you can bench press the **** in work it.

I finally got it in...then found out that the TRANSMISSION was broken. LOL. I took it down again then took it to the shop got her fixed and as of 2AM this morning my car is in one piece again! But thanks for the advice, I pretty much went ape **** on it and eventually got it on. It took a lot of hard work but the upside, now I am qualified to offer my own advice when someone is doing a transmission/clutch install...

after getting it out the first time I used a scouring pad to clean the alignment studs, added a little antisize. just lat week I pulled itoff for trans rebuild and came out with ease..

Those alignment studs kicked my *** when removing my transmission!!! RUSTED!! I thought I was going to break the bell housing but the studs finally broke free. Now the bell housing wont come off!!!

When using the clutch alignment tool, do you guys find that it has a lot of play in the pilot bearing? If so, do you try to eyeball it and have it roughly centered in the fingers of the clutch when tightning down the pressure plate, or do you just stick it in there and forget about it?

Every time my friend and I try to install my transmission, it's just an absolute nightmare trying to get it in there, and we spend a lot of time worrying about how much slop there is in the alignment tool.
