Default how do you do a burnout with a manual tranny.

I wanted to take my 98' z28 to the track for a baseline on et streets Dr's and boltons no suspension mods done, my only problem is I don't know how to do a burnout in a manual and what is the chance of damaging the rearend with a maximum but highly unlikely launch of 3000rpm assuming I catch traction with Dr's any tips on how to burnouts.

Without line lock:

Push Clutch In
Put in 1st gear
Rev to 4k
Sidestep clutch to brake pedal
Hold brake pedal while feathering throttle around 4k

Me no line lock yet 2nd gear rev to 5 to 6 k dump clutch hit brake and hold a 5500 rpm or so, let them eat and let brake off and trail it out. I do have a 9 inch so 10 bolt not so extreme.

i would like to add that you lightly tap on the brake pedal to avoid roasting the rear brakes. you have plenty of power to spin the wheels even with the brakes fully engaged so you can glaze them.
Practice in a wide open parking lot.

rev to 4K and dump it in 1st gear. immediately go from clutch to brake with your left foot.
keep throttle consistent, and off the redline

Personally, I just use my heel of my right foot to hold the brake, and my right toes to hit the gas, while using my left for the clutch. I'll start in 1st, then shift the 2nd and then call it quits.

I usually do a 2nd gear launch at about 4-4500 rpm & modulate the throttle & brake to do a nice smokey pro stock style burnout. 1st gear just isn't enough wheel speed for enough smoke for me.

I have never done a stand still burn out I dump the clutch at 4000 rpm and it will smoke them enough for me. I have every botl on and an ms4 cam on the stock rear end and i launch at 2500-3000 and i have been ok so far.

Do a quick 1/2 second spin in the water box to wet the whole tires (drive around and back into the water box if you have regular street tires on the front so you dont drag the water forward) pull up a couple feet, put it in second gear, rev it to about 4500rpm, let the clutch out just enough to pull the car forward to take the slop out of the drivetrain, then dump the clutch the rest of the way, and then at the same time, apply full throttle and moderate brake pressure, let off after about 3 seconds.

Dont dump the clutch at the starting line, you will break it, you want an agressive and fast slip. good luck

3k is all I need to start a burnout, then raise it to 4500rpm.

When you go to launch from the line I would defintley feather the clutch a little and and not just drop it. Or you will probably lose your rear end.
