So i have a fresh t5 from a foxbody. i'm not concerned about whether or not its a good idea. I need to know what needs to be done to make it work. Its gonna need to be cable not hydraulic
pretty sure i'll need
a "621" bell housing
ls type flywheel/ clutch
what starter?
anything else?

There's a couple ways to do it.
Mcloed, Modern Driveline, Quicktime, etc make adapter bell housings. There was one for sale in the classified ads here a few weeks ago.
They also sell an adapter pilot bearing.
The throwout bearing setup will depend on the bell housing. I think the adapters are set up for manual z bar or hydraulic.
LS1 flywheel, starter, pressure plate with a 10 spline ford disc.
Or if your handy, you could machine a 1/2" spacer between the trans and 621 bell housing (Wilcap makes these too) and a make pilot bushing.

Yeah it can be done. I would suggest having the T5 strengthend up a little bit before using it. A 2.95 ratio unit will be better suited for the power as well. I did a hybrid unit a few weeks ago on a Ford T5 with a 2.95 and a GM style input shaft. That allowed the user to go with a GM pilot bearing and 26 spline clutch disc too.

Interesting, so if you could get a $250 ford T5, add a$100 input shaft, bolt it to a $50 Astro Van 4.3 bell housing and mate that to an LS1 clutch/flywheel with LS7 pilot bearing......you could have a 300 ft/lb OD trans with all the upgrades available to the Mustang crowd at a really good price.

Thanks for the info.
The 83 and 84 5.0 mustangs and aftermarket gear sets have the 2.95 1st gear, but what other year/models would be easy to find with that ratio?
Also, and this is a longshot, I think the 86-89 4.3 astro van bell housing has both GM and Ford trans bolt patterns and looks to have the dimensions of a 621 bell housing. Any chance you know if an LS1 flywheel/clutch would fit in it?
So what trans and bell housing did you use for your hybrid?
