Default T5 trans behind 5.3

New member here looking to put an L33 in my 240 Volvo. The T5 should hold up fine with the stock L33 in my 3000 pound car. Was this trans ever offered with the LS engines. I have spent a bunch of time searching and have come up empty. I don't want to use the T56 as it doesn't fit well in the Volvo chassis and the T5 is a drop in. If it never came stock can I use the old mid 80's F-body parts with the new engine?
Sorry for my ignorance but this is the first time I have ever touched a GM product - I was going to do a 5.0 Ford swap but the baby LS engines are just so much better.

Go with a 2.95 ratio T5 if thats the path you want to take. Best one is from 1988-1992 3rd gen V8 F body.

Default Found a bunch of info

Once I discovered the quicktime bellhousing (RM-3037) the search function turned up many threads explaining the details. Looks like this is probably the best way to go as I can always just go to a TKO if I change my mind and start tweaking the engine - not real likely as it's my DD and part of the reason to do this swap is to have a nice reliable car to just drive.

I have a rebuilt T5 from a 99 Firebird V6, but I'm not sure what is required to make it work with an LS1. Or if it will even hold the power.

I'm looking for the same info. Got a free T5 and want to put it behind my 4.8 or 5.3 in my Toyota truck. What do I need to do to use this trans?

T5 will break even behind a stock 200 HP 305.

It won't last long if it's between a 5.3 and the weight of a truck.

Ok, well I have a free built T5 that's been behind a boosted cobra. What do I need to put it behind the LS motor? Will a V6 bellhousing make it work, or what?

Not likely I had one (the weakest V8 version) hold up to ~375Hp in a 3100 Mustang with big tires and a locker for several years before it ate 3rd gear. The good ones (Cobra spec) are factory rated for 330 Ft/Lbs.

It's going in a 3000 pound Volvo not a truck.

I am looking at the Quick Time RM-6037 bellhousing. Then you need a special pilot bearing for the Ford input shaft. I know that a 26 spline input is available that would let you use the stock clutch disk. Nice thing about this bellhousing is you can go to a TKO if the T5 can't take the power.

check out the performance trucks forum. theres some really detailed threads on mating up the t56 to 5.3s and 4.8s. not sure how different it would be for a t5, but some of the info should still be helpful. check out "the official a4 to m6 swap thread," i think somewhere in the drivetrain section

if anyone is still trying this im working on putting this setup in my corolla but i am having a hard time getting the right bell housing from quick time/lakewood and there customer support sucks. once i get all the info i will post it up here but i am using a t5 from behind a 3.8 gen 4 f body and it looks like it uses the rm-6037 since it uses he ford case from what i understand.
