Anyone out there offer LT1 t56 rebuilds? Stage 1/2/3? HELP
My 100k mile t56 finally started giving me headaches, and instead of trying to swim through pages of threads, how about a simple answer to my question.
Any service out there offer affordable t56 rebuilds FOR LT1'S!.. Or someone point me in the right direction to buy "a kit" and I can have it rebuilt. My car currently makes around 400rwhp, and would be taking on nx shots, rarely.
Located in southeastern PA if that means anything.

Are you serious? Well, I m sorry....I thought it might be eaiser to find/buy a complete trans....and do a simple swap.......What the hell was I thinking? spending less money....and less time......and not having a car down as long....what the hell was I thinking....I know bad idea....
I read....."affordable rebuild".......thats another trans ($1000)...versus most rebuilds that are way way over that....

Money is better spent on just having their unit built so they know what is in it instead of guessing or taking someone else's word for it.

far fetched idea...is that he may know someone.....maybe even in his area....that is into the same type of cars....maybe someone that wrecked a car? Someone that converted to a auto?...maybe someone parting a car out (that may be drivable), or perhaps a "trust worthy" ls1 tech member.......that has a good trans.
Do you really think a car that went 100k miles needs "the best"...it needs a viper output? and new yoke?
All I tried to do, was put forth another possibility.......to fix the situation.....that may be more affordable....and you guys want to argue about it?
Ok....

An average LS1 T56 in good shape runs between $1200-$1500. A broken Lt1 unit runs about $350-400. So after buying a LS1 unit, swapping the parts and selling off the old unit, he is still out about $900 roughly and has to hope the unit he is installing is in good enough shape to last a while.
A stock rebuild for his unit is going to run about $750-$850 and he will know what is in it. If he wants to add things like the upgraded 2nd gear, fork pads, solid shift keys and such, it's still only between $1000-$1300. So for another $100-$400 additional cost, he will get a unit with fresh parts installed that should atleast come with something more than a tail light warranty.

A long ways from you but Jason at Texas Drivetrain Performance he does excellent work would highly recommend him! He is very resonable on price.

My car makes roughly 400 at the wheels, more so at the transmission.. I don't think a stock replacement is by any means a solution. Thank you for the input but I don't want this trans out in 2012 OR 13.

At 400 rwhp and a 200 shot on top of that, you are really at the edge of what I would suggest with a stock mainshaft. Usually you see failure around 650 but thats not really set in stone. While it's a part and if you can afford to do it, I would go ahead and upgrade the mainshaft in it. You get rid of a stock shaft that is guaranteed to have wear on the 5-6 cluster section for a brand new shaft which is larger, stronger and has fresh splines on the section of the shaft that likes to wear out. With the larger shaft, upgraded 2nd gear and other misc upgrades, you should be able to safely take a 600 spike at the rear wheels without having to worry about it as much.
