will do this if all is good. might even try it soon if no other results come through, changing the clutch on my car.

Jeremy, do you happen to have any remote bleeders on hand at your place? Ill be using an aftermarket clutch with stock hydraulics so I will be prone to sticky pedal.

Default Modified bellhousing

I just removed the plastic shields and cut 2 big holes in my bellhousing. Cleaned and cleaned. New master cyl, installed and bled. Feedback after next night at the track. Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

im pulling my gearbox to do this mod to my monaro, im sure there is a link to the aussies adding a hole approx 1-1.5 inches in diameter to the bell housing of the monaros at approx 2 and 10 o clock positions

I just Finished installing a McCloud RST twin disk and while in there I removed the plastic cover for the starter and drilled 4. 3/8" holes in my bell housing. I put new slave cyl and remote bleeder from Tick performance . I will report later on how it all does with trash in fluid after about 500 miles ,

TransAmcoupe98-You shouldn't have a sticky pedal if you do everything in the thread. We currently don't have a remote bleeders on hand. If you start with a New Slave Cylinder, you should be in good shape. If you try to reuse an old one, you will be in bad shape.

gsd2000-That is news to us. 2 more holes won't hurt. If it were us, we would suggest you put the holes at 4 and 8 or somewhere at the bottom because everything gathers there.

Let's say my driver side plastic inspection cover broke when I dropped the oil pan. Is there any reason to replace it?

Am I the only one that is afraid that drilling holes in bell housing could weaken it to the point where if something broke (clutch/flywheel) it would shatter?

Whigham-I would not replace it, highly suggest keeping anything that inhibits airflow from entering or exiting the bellhousing out. Let it breathe and therefore it will stay cooler and cleaner thus aiding the issues at hand.
35th- I strongly believe that you could put about 8-10 1" holes in there and it would still have the same strength. Use you head though.....2-3 holes would suffice and It would not weaken it one bit.

What about an old-school scattershield? I don't have a block plate, but the flywheel is less than 1/8" from the ID of the bell, so not much air can get through the front. The rest is pretty tight except for the fork opening (I'm gonna use a hyd throw-out)...

So far mine is going great. The clutch fluid is holding its color and car shifts great

I did the Ranger turkey baster method 2 years ago when the fluid was somewhat dark (and probably original). It cleaned up after only two master cylinder exchanges (only 12K miles on the car). The fluid was starting to turn a bit darker after another 2 yrs so I just refreshed it again last month with one exchange. With my driving style I don't think I'll ever need any of the mods mentioned here.

makes me wonder if a couple well placed cleanout holes could help just big enough to blast brake cleaner , compressed air , pressure wash , etc...to get rid of all the black dust every oil change or something

this threads been on my mind since I posted in it last week. I have been paying attention to temp and it consistenty shifts well now that its cooler with the fall weather and if it always shifted as well as it does just after engine has come to temp in the morning I would be a happy guy....
