Eaton posi = weakest link.

Spool here too. Wanna see a vid of what happens when you blow the posi at the track? Watch my buddy Travis at the Spring Break Shootout from last weekend. Eaton posi blown to chunks.

BLKWS6 did. He got a whopping 6 Focking runs on it before his brand new Moser 12bolt blew up. Only had about 405hp to the wheels too. I don't understand why that piece self destructed so fast? It basically destroyed everything but the housing and axles.

Hey antz01ta can you tell a noticable difference with the 800lbs on the street? My 800lbs springs arrived yesterday. I still run on a road cource and autocross once/twice a year. Just wondering if they are TOO agressive for high speed corners.

On a side note. My Second Eaton HD Posi lasted only 4 1/8 mile 1.48-1.560ft passes and busted all but 6 teath of the spider gears.

This is what I have done... we'll see how it does. I sent the housing, new spiders, Pins, spings, brackets, bolts, ring, pinion. to http://www.300below.com/site/home.html to be cryo'd. Now if it won't hold 1.4 60's A spool will go in.

What kind of tires was he running?

Anyone know if it's the DR's blowing **** up, or is it only the slicks?

I think i'm switching to a strange 12 bolt with a spool in it.

ScrudeDude The Eaton's are breaking under fairly severe conditions. I'm cutting 1.45 60's. Most people that break I imagine like I do, 6-7K launches with ET Drags/Streets with 500+ RWHP.

Overall they are strong its just we are getting to the limits of a posi unit that has spider gears in them.

Here is a pic of my setup. I'm adding a Sphon 1 inch Sway bar and TA cover to it.

the 800lb springs dont make any chatter on the street, they seem to be fine, but i dont know about road racing.

btw did you ever get the mcleod bellhousing on your car?
mine went in pretty easy, i had to buy bolts they sent the wrong ones.

The bellhousing won't work with the SLP's Headers without serious modifications. But, I'm working on another car with Hookers, and I believe it would work with them also. I seen you posted that yours bolted up.. I'll post what I find on the Hookers.

Thanks for the response man. And that's a sweet set up. I kinda wish I painted my rear silver instead of black now....

I got this from another site...........

Posi, short for Posi-traction, is a trade name (Gen Motors I think) for a limited slip diff. You really can't compare a LSD to any type of locker.

A locker locks the diff providing full power to each wheel under all circumstances.

An LSD sends some power to the wheel with traction, where an open diff would send all the power to the whell with no traction. Since an LSD sends only some power to the wheel with traction, people apply some braking action to fool it into thinking the tractionless wheel has some traction, and the LSD sends more power to the wheel with traction.

Also.. you always hear about people with spools taking turns and getting the popping and sometimes the wheels 'hop'. It's because with a posi, when you take a turn, one wheel with spin a little less than the other to make the turn smooth where with a spool both wheels are turning @ 100%.
