Most shops won't just replace two rings but I would expect to pay about 300.00 plus parts.

I got wuoted a orice of $400 plus parts. Then was informed that itd be $250 extta to replace the carbon fiber rings with kevlar 1's . Coldnt see a problem in tranny when he opened it up. But suggested changing the rings for some reason. They were upgraded b4 along with billet keys n stell fork the 3/4 syncroblocker was replaceda to. Problem im having is car grinds like hell going into 3rd n has to be held in gear or it pops out u der acceleration. Also is noisy kinda roaring noise in 3rd. Any ideas as to anything that would cause thia?

$400 is a little stout for the labor but that might be the going price in your neck of the woods. As for the rings, they are no where near $250.

Hell I only charge $795 for a full stock rebuild which includes all the syncro rings, seals, fork pads, snap rings, 3-4 iron replacement shift fork, all shift keys replaced, new shifter bushing, gears deburred, sliders deburred/hand polished out, cases power washed and reassembled to my personal specs.

With out hearing it, I can only guess to what is causing the noise. SYncro rings won't cause a noise other than a grind going into the gear. Do you hear any noise in any other gears?

No wuiet as can be other than the noisy pro 5-0kits shifter. 3rd is about the same sound just louder for some reason. Maybe just from the fact of extra pressure on the shifter to hold it in gear under acceleration. When motors not running the gear box is smooth as glass. Couldnt ask for it to be better. But running 3rdthe is a grinding bitch!

Called the shop today to discuss the $250 n to my surprise its for a complete rebuild. So $650 for a total rework with labor aint bad !

Thats about right if you are just doing the rings in it. As long as you trust them to do the work, let them do their thing.
