Default slave shiming prob

i got everything out of the car today, got the new clutch put in, new salve on and started to take my measurements and i dont get how it can be so off.

bellhousing to pressure plate fingers 2.30

slave to trans housing 2.15 and thats with a 2 1/8th inch shims.

so thats a .15 difference

the sitcky says to be within 1/16th to 1/8th difference which .02 isnt that much but that is a lot of shims to get it to that. it just seems like a lot and im not really comfortable with it. does this sound rite or am i being crazy? my pack of shims i ordered will prolly be here thurs so i wont be working on it again till fri. i dont want to put all this **** back in an its still fucked up.

here is some pics of the old clutch, it was pretty messed up

here is all the old clutch material i got off the block.

btw the clutch going in is a textralia oz700 i got from a buddy with about 1500 miles on it and i bought a gm performance slave, tick master and shim kit.

I don't know how, but it sounds like you need the longer GM slave.

Shouldn't need the longer slave.

Are you sure you're measuring correctly? Has the flywheel ever been resurfaced?

BTW, the pucks on the clutch disc look terrible.

im measuring with a straight edge and and blue point micrometer just like the sticky showed. not sure if the flywheel has been resurfaced but i will ask. those are the pics of the spec stage 3 i took out. it was so bad the car wouldn't even move lol. can the shims be stacked? if so i only need a .02 or a lil thicker to be right but that just seems like a lot though

my buddy said he thinks the flywheel had been resurfaced which might explain it

well i just called textralia and they say it only takes .42 to fully disengage there clutch and a stock slave has 1.5" of travel so technically i can be almost a full inch away and it should still work. i think im just gona put one shim back there and see what happens.

If the flywheel has been excessively resurfaced then the PP will be too far from the slave, increasing the measured distance. The distance has to do with engagement point, not how much travel is needed to move the pressure plate. My flywheel was below minimum thickness and I used a shim to get 0.120" clearance and it's fine.
