Default LT1-T56 clutch

I have an LT1-T56 that I am swapping into my corvette. I Just need a simple clutch to use and get better at driving.

Will a stock clutch bolt up behind a gen 1 sbc with the correct thrust bearing or will I need a special clutch?

Would be getting the whole clutch package but would like to keep a simple clutch before going to a twin disk or the like centerforce.

The 93-97 LT1 T56 flywheel and clutch bolt to any 86 and newer production SBC.

If it's an 85 or older crank, you need to address the bolt pattern / balance differences; usually with an aftermarket flywheel (balanced for either 400SBC or neutral balanced and the correct 3.58" bolt pattern.)

Next time post the year of your vette and engine.

Like jmd said. If it's early style neutral balance you will need Centerforce part 700107. I do not know what you would need for external balance.

I would get a balanced fly as I have a 383 and yes it is a gen 1 sbc 2 pc rms.

Engine 1985 block 2 pc rms with a 10.5:1 383 with Dart iron eagles, HSR, and a medium comp cam. Made 408 through an auto and IRS on a happy dyno.

Assuming your 383 is balanced like a 400,

Centerforce has one balanced for an external balance 400 SBC. It's NOT in their catalogue or very find-able online; call them. I have installed a couple of these.
Spec has a weight plate that bolts to their neutral balance flywheel for use w/ 400 SBC.

Don't use a balance plate that bolts in between the flywheel and crank. With the Valeo pull clutch on the 93-97, it throws off the clutch fork angle and prevents the clutch from releasing properly.
