Default lt1 to ls1 t56 conversion question.

Ok I'm starting my conversion. just a few questions, In the pictures I posted below, there is a ring that is pressed on to the old input shaft. What is the best way about going about geting it off and putting it on the ls1 input shaft? and any tips you can give me while I got it apart.

Someone sold you the Brooklyn Bridge..

That's a late model double-cone synchro input shaft, won't work on your LT1 conversion.

You need a F-body LS1 input shaft that has the same cone shaped machined surface on it for a single-cone synchro. That late-model input shaft uses different synchros and a different mainshaft design.

Most likely it came from a Corvette C5 T56, or a GTO, depending on the number of gear teeth it has..

I'm sure it's worth something to anyone needing it. Find out exactly what it's from/for and post it on the same lists where you're trying to buy..

My SSR PDF write-up has alot of background and teeth counts to figure out it's origin..

good luck
