Default Drill Mod On Slave

Anyone ever do this? I took an old slave apart and noticed the hole in the line feeding the slave is only 5/64". This seems like a much larger restriction than the one leading off of the master cylider (seeing as they're the same line). What's the point of doing the drill mod on the line by the master if it gets so small on the end that goes into the slave?

Wouldn't our stock masters push enough fluid for clutches like the McLeod Twin if we drill this hole to 1/8" as well? Seems to me that it would work.

Anyone?

Doing the drill mod removes the restriction in the line so the fluid moves freer when engaging and disengaging the clutch. The restriction can cause the clutch to slip when released under power because of the fluid traveling so slow between the master and the slave. Yes they move enough fluid but how fast in reference to pedal movement is the question

Here is a writeup about the drillmod and why it needs to be done.

Uhhh .... thanks. You're answering the wrong question though. We are talking about the blockage on the SLAVE side.

I asked my shop here in town today while they put new disks in mine. They said you would have to disassemble the slave and hope you could put it back together again. This is because of the way the quick connect for the line is set up. It's not just a straight through whole at that end like on the master side. So basically, they said NO to the drill mod on the slave. Hope this helps.

I popped the roll pin out of a old slave in about 2 minutes. There's nothing complicated about it. I just used a punch and a hammer.

You sure you're not talking about the the master side? If I remember correctly, the slave side has a quick connect fitting that is crimped onto the steel braided line, and connects directly into a connection on the side of the slave....

Not sure about the f-body, but the vette has a rollpin on the slave/throwout bearing housing holding the line with the quick connect fittin in.

My car is getting a new slave, master, and McLeod single disk this week. I'll drill the master out to 1/8" and take a look at drilling out the slave. If there's a roll pin, it'll get drilled out and report on the results.

There IS a rollpin holding the solid portion of th line to the quick connect fitting. It comes out easily with a punch, and goes back in easily too.

If you remove the roll pin on the slave and remove the fitting you should see a where there's only a tiny hole in the fitting feeding the slave. Maybe this is just a vette thing, but I don't think so.
