Bleeding Hyd. Clutch System

Bleeding Hyd. Clutch System
Well,
I bought a new CMC and did the drill mod. I bench bled the CMC before I installed it. Then after I installed it before connecting the hyd. line to the trans, I filled the reservoir and did a gravity bleed by pushing in the check valve on the end of the hyd. line to let the fluid flow out just to make sure there was no air. I then attached the hyd. line to the trans. and began to bleed the whole system. I only have maybe an inch or two of pedal. When I push the pedal down, it won't come up on it's own. I have to lift it up with my hand. How long does it take before the pedal returns by itself?

Usually takes about 5-8 cycles for me to get my clutch pedal back up to normal. A cycle for me being...
-Fill the master cylinder resavior (you can leave the resavior's lid off)
-Push the clutch pedal to the floor
-Crack the bleeder for 2 seconds
-Tighten the bleeder
-Pull the clutch pedal up off the floor slowly
About every three times I do it I go up and check the master cylinder resavior to make sure it doesn't need to be filled again. Don't let it go empty or you're screwed and have to start over. That's the way I do it anyway and it always works great.

Thanks man,
I'll keep plugging away at it, hopefully the pedal will start returning on it's own. Thanks for making the how to video, that help me out a lot when replacing the CMC.

Well, I'm thinking about taking my car to a dealer and have them fix the clutch.
I've been bleeding it for a few hours and the pedal isn't coming back up at all.
I've bled two containers full of brake fluid thru the system and no improvement in the pedal what so ever.
It shifted fine before with the exception of the pedal sticking to the floor every once in awhile.
I'm beginning to think the CMC I bought from Advance Auto parts is bad. It looks identical to the original one I took off the car. Anyone else have a similar experience?

Did you try a vacuum pump? That should get the air out. Either push the hose fitting against the opening at the bottom of the reservoir, or use a rubber drain plug that fits the top of the reservoir with a hole in the middle for a hose fitting - it just needs to be an airtight connection.

Well,
I finally got it bled. A friend told me to take a 60cc syringe attach a piece
of tubing to it and fill it with brake fluid. Empty the reservoir and open the bleeder on the slave. While under the car attach the tubing to the bleeder and empty the syringe thru the bleeder. Have someone watch the reservoir.
You may have to do this a couple times. When the fluid appears in the reservoir, check the pedal. It should be firm.
I hope this helps others in the future!
