Pretty sure Studderin has some in his old *** and huge *** build thread. I am not convinced that a pump will help it live. Road racing yes but idk for going down the track.

i'm not 100% sure i need one. with the new faceplated treatment to the trans, i am going to go to a thicker fluid, which will have more shear strength, thus maybe not needing the pump at all. i am having sprayers put in anyway and will plumb the pump in if i ever feel i need it.

It's a good idea no doubt about that.

agreed. 3rd gens have much less real estate next to the transmission than the 4th gens and exhaust is REALLY tight to the trans. where the header collectors go outward on the 4th gens towards the rocker panels, the thirdgens actually go in, tight to the transmission (this is where the similarities between 3rd and 4th gen chassis/suspension begin to change. everything aft the transmission crossmember is enough the same that components fit similarly).

Going to a higher viscosity oil may well guarantee that you will burn a tranny up. Viscosity and shear strength are not related. For example, bleach has shear strength that far exceeds most oils, and no viscosity to speak of. A higher viscosity oil is just that much harder to pump to get the oil where you need it. Tranny fluid already has most of the properties of 90w gear oil (including shear strength), it has to in order to do it's job. It just doesn't have the extreme viscosity.

i will be using whatever is recommended by Tick Performance for faceplated transmissions. i cannot recall at this time what Jonathan told me, but i keep thinking he said to use synchromesh. i'm extremely finicky when it comes to fluid selection and will do all homework associated with it when the time comes to put the transmission back in the car. trust me, i'm not about to throw $3K down on a t56 rebuild/update and just haphazardly put whatever fluid that's laying around in the car.
