1000rwhp clutch advice
I need a clutch to withstand 950-1000rwhp. Its going in my street/strip 370/F1a 3400# 99 Camaro. I've heard some horror stories about Mcloud RXT but then again my buddy has one in his car that makes 850 and holds fine. It has never made any track passes either so....I've also looked at the Spec super twin and it says it will hold 1500. I need some real world advice as to what you guys are running at this power level. Thanks in advance!

IMO... there are two clutches that will hold what the power you want that are very perform well and hold up well... The Mcleod RXT, and the Monster LT1-SC... You could probably buy a Spec that will hold, but I've heard bad things about Spec, mostly they chatter a lot and sometimes their customer service isn't that great, but that's just me.
Monster has superior customer service. And its also at the top of the fastest 6-speed list...
Go with the Monster and don't look back, and nice car OP. Sounds like its gonna be a handful, enjoy it!

Thanks for feedback. I've had two spec 3+ clutches in my car and they were Soso so they weren't going to be first choice. I've heard good and bad things on the rxt with most of the bad being from guys with big power like myself. Looks like monster is the way to go from what I've researched.

I only run RXT's in big HP setups.... you can also custom order one for higher than 1000rwhp holding capacity.
They drive awesome and low pedal pressure. We've never had problems.
Have one in a 3100lb LS9 Turbo RX-7 that held 1100rwhp or so in 5th gear. 1/2 mile shootout stuff. Drives primo.

McLeod Street Twin is the way to go. Comes with 1200hp rating, ARP bolts, balanced flywheel to clutch, great street manners, and lighter than stock pedal feel. We put these in a ton of high horsepower daily driven as well as track cars here and love them. We are currently running a promotion on them and you will not find them any cheaper anywhere. Feel free to PM me with any questions or concerns.

I had my steel flywheel street twin sent out to Mcleod to have the disc hubs flipped in order to use it on a viper input style t56. While they had it, and for no extra charge they increased the hp rating to 1600 horsepower by changing out the pressure plate springs. If i opted for ceramic discs the clutch was rating would be 1800+(they wouldnt give me an exact number) Great customer service and Mcleod stands by their product.....from my personal experiance and my .02

OP
for your HP you need a multi disc clutch, period.
I make nowhere near your power but do have, and dealt with, McLeod Street Twin. Quality product and their customer service for me has been stellar. I also had the clutch rebuilt and took it to their shop for that. 1 hr later it was done.
Monster does not make a product for my LT1 but they have a good reputation according to various threads so assume their product would also work well.
