Default I need a plastic ring for shifter boot

Does anybody have one lying around? My boot is fine but my plastic retaining ring has broken into many pieces. (Looks like it was glued to the underside of the boot) I can pay pal or whatever works. Taking a quick look at GM parts and you have to buy the leather boot with the ring in it.

Or maybe any ideas where I could find one?

Thx

search that internet auction site for 1997-2002 F-Body Shift Boot RETAINER, buy one of the metal ones, they are awesome, have one on every car I've ever owned with a boot.

The fabric is glued to the itself to hold on to the ring and that glue can goo up the ring.

OMG!

For anyone who comes across this, the old ring can be fixed for $3.

The ring is ABS. ABS pipe cement (not the multi-pipe cement that does ABS - but straight ABS cement) will chemically weld the pieces back together. This stuff can be found at good, smaller hardware stores or plumbing supplies.

Mine is good-as new, 10 years after cementing it.

I'd highly recommend the metal one like the guy recommended above. It's solid.

Do you have a brand name to the exact stuff you used? I was going to buy the metal one but might try this route for $3.

This is what I use but any medium ABS cement from any manufacturer would be the same stuff.

Just make sure it is straight ABS cement and not the multi pipe stuff.

I can attest that the Oatey ABS cement is good stuff and would work well to fix a broken ring.

That being said, I opted for a maintenance free solution and went with the wire ring. Love it. I'm not nervous (fearful of breaking the ring) anymore when I go to pop the boot out!

Thanks for the link. Unfortunately, checked my plastic ring and it is broke but there's one of the pieces missing. So I'm just going to buy the metal one..
