Default Removing Bearing Races T56

How are you guys getting the races out of the main housing? I'm talking about the two that are pressed in... Not the two that slip into the front cover that are shimmed for preload.

Also how are you removing the race on the inside diameter of the input shaft (where the main shaft rides)? I tried heating it in an oven then cooling the race hoping it would pop out and had no luck.

Welding isn't something I can do and taking a Dremel to the race and cutting is a last resort but I'm open to other ideas/suggestions.

Thanks

A blind hole puller for the i.d. race of the maindrive (input) like The Harbor Freight one with light weight slide hammer puller works, but the OEM Kent-Moore tool is a worthwhile addition later on. I like it better than welding.

heat the entire case around it and then cool the race. Aluminum holds heat very well so if you get it to around 500, you should be able to cool the race and shrink it enough while the case is still hot.

So you recommend heating it with a torch? Then cooling the race

I actually used a tig torch on the bearing race. A torch would work as well. 500 in an oven for an hour. though.. not all ovens will fit a T56 case

But yes. You want the heat in the aluminum.

On the harder more stubborn races I'll use a tig on the race. It will shrink it down and fall out on its own. Especially on the S650 cases.

Default What about the input shaft race?

How do you yall get the input shaft race out? Ive read baking it in the oven and hitting it with air and cutting it out with a dremel? Any other methods to this madness? Lol
