Default Anyone regret face plating?

I am about to have my t56 rebuilt and I am strongly considering having it faceplated while it is out. I have read countless threads where people say "don't do it, you will hate it on the street''. However it seems those people don't have face plated transmissions and are purely speculating. My car is not a DD and is strictly a toy. When it is driven it is all ways driven hard. Has anyone actually had theirs faceplated and regretted it?

If it was something I had to drive in heavy traffic a bunch, I probably wouldn't like it as much. And I definitely wouldn't do it a DD. My car is like yours though, just a toy that maybe sees 1200 miles a year tops. No regrets here!

Awesome, that's what I wanted to hear! Did you get yours done at Liberty?

I've put 40k miles on my fp'd t56 and still love it. Way more dd'able than a big stall auto imo. Other than a click or clunk into gear it's no big deal.

I got the parts from Liberty, but I build my own transmissions.

Thanks for the responses. I called Liberty today and plan to ship them my trans soon. I'm looking at $860 to get the gears done and 275 for the labor on the trans. What is the best way to ship the trans?

You'll love it! Whatever turn around time they told you, plan on twice that long. They aren't known for being real speedy....

To be fair to them, when I sent my gears to them a little over a year ago, turn around was quite prompt. Probably only a week or two over their 4 week estimate.

Well Liberty should be receiving my trans tomorrow. I am getting 1-4 FP'd and bronze shift pads. No clue on the turn around time as of yet

Once you learn to downshift with it you will be good. Up shifting it just double clutch it and that works fine.

I have heard conflicting opinions on shifting it. Some say to double clutch, and others say to just shift it quickly

My first few drives I double clutched upshifts and was able to shift it with almost no noise at all. Once you get some miles under your belt, you get used to the rpm drop & rev matches between gears and you can shift it without double clutching at all. After awhile I could even putt around town and shift it pretty quietly without using the clutch. Biggest advice while you're learning is move the shifter quickly/firmly into each gear or you'll clash the plates/hubs. The meaner you are to it, the cleaner it shifts. You'll love it
