LSA mated to T56? in 69 Firebird need advice plz
Hey I just picked up wrecked ZL1 with LSA TR6060 and had already swapped a LS T56 in 69 F-body so now I'm going LSA in it and due to mounting, shifter location being 3+ inches rearward, different hydraulic hookup and no slip yoke would there be any issues just keeping the T56 I have already? any issues using the LSA clutch with T56? just trying to keep it simple
I know T56 isn't rated as high as 6060 but this will be a streetcar no slicks/dragging

What T56 ?
Both are 2.66 / 0.50 ?
What shift points for the LSA ?
The depth for the dual-disc may be an issue, with a few options to make room.
Ifyou are wanting to keep the driveshaft as-is and the finger height difference isn't huge, it's do-able.
Conversion to slip-yoke is an option of course. Front end TR6060 changes add cost too.

The TR6060 is a nicer shifting transmission too.
You can use your T56, but the stock dual disk clutch will not fit, there is just not enough room. If you want to keep your current T56, just swap to a suitable aftermarket clutch and make sure it has a 8 bolt flywheel.

OK guys that's why I asked good info I have a LS and T56 in my 69 now them a buddy wrecked a 13 ZL1 and here I am looking at adding it to my 69. I was assuming that clutch would fit in my T56 but now that's out of the mix. I spoke to TDP about 6060 guts in T56 for fitment and its doable but almost a grand and then still have clutch issue... I'm screwed

zman1969,
Have you figured out your hydraulics and clutch issues?
I have a similar situation with an LSA, T56, QuickTime Bell housing, McLeod’s RXT Twin Clutch # 6405807M, McLeod's Fly Wheel, McLeod’s Master Cylinder ....and I can't seem to find the correct TO bearing to work with all of this?

What bore master cylinder are you using with our Master cylinder, 3/4" or the 13/16"? If you have the 3/4" bore we offer a bearing specific for the LS T-56/T-56 Magnum part number 14-302. It uses a collar that bolts to the hydraulic mounting pad then has a 1400 series slip on bearing that slides on the collar. You have the ability to adjust the bearing height based on your height requirements. If you have any further questions give me a call 714-630-2764 x 223.

Hi Billy,
Thanks for the reply and I will call you sometime tomorrow, but I have a couple of quick questions...
Does the bearing comes with that collar?
What are the specs in adjustments or tolerance levels?

The range of adjustment is .700" with the adjustment screw and you can also add a spacer behind the bearing if the adjustment screw is not enough. The spacer is worth .700" of spacing, then you can use the adjustment screw to fine tune your final clearance of between .100" to .250" prior to adding fluid to the bearing.
