Default Best high HP streetable clutch.

I'm building a high horsepower street car and trying to decide what clutch for my application. Car will have 800-1000hp and it will be driven 90% of the time on the street. Need something that I can drive across state and not kill me. What does everyone recommend?

If you can swing the price, RPS.

And what aspect would "kill you" ?

Pedal effort, engagement ? Other ?

And will it only be street use or heavy drag use with slicks too ?

Whilst I'm using another brand of clutch now...it is a decision I regret.

When I need to replace my clutch I'll be going back to an ACT. My last one was the T2S-G01 model and it was great. It just finally started slipping after a few years use and decided I wanted something stronger and opted for another brand.

G01 has a lightweight flywheel this one has a heavier flywheel. T2 pedal effort not too bad at all, on par with most uprated clutches I've tried.

Or they offer a heavier cover but still with organic discs if you needed more clamp. And with organic discs...it will engage/disengage like stock.

And price....bargain.

Thank you for your help sir. Given it will purely be used on the street, I want something with easy engagement, not a heavy pedal feel, and something that doesn't require extra RPMs to get moving.

Steel flywheel with RXT does come to mind

McLeod are popular choices.

But do stay away from any that are not regular type friction materials to ensure you have perfectly smooth engagement.

Op is running a LSx in his 4th gen, not LT1 so the "Street Twin" won't work..the McLeod RST or RXT "twin" will

I have a LT1 with the Street Twin. Excellent clutch

Are you saying that Mcleod doesn't make a Street Twin for LSX set ups? I understood the OP. I have been running a Street Twin for years. With both an LS1 and 404" LS2 in my car , the Street twin worked great.
The OP is gunning for 1000 hp. The Street Twin would be a better choice IMO. However the cost is more than the RST/RXT. Both of which are great clutches. The support over at Mcleod has been great for me. I've used their clutches for 14 years now in my car. Never once had an issue.

apologies if I am in error. I thought the RST or RXT were called just that, not Street Twin. Apologies if I am wrong. All those are "twin" disc clutches

The McLeod Street Twin has been around for decades

I am very happy with my LT1 "Street Twin" and have had great customer service from them

I also understand McLeod will build a street twin with discs other than the organic type. My understanding is their RST twin is organic disc and the RXT is puc ceramic disc. The later being better if primary use is 1/4 mi

It sucks ur not making closer to 750-800. Rofl. I love my stage 1 race clutch from monster. Its rated for 900. But sounds like u want something more expensive like a twin disc.

my monster twin disc in my turbo nova is real nice, rated to 1000 rwhp and a 2 year old girl could push it in. my only complaint is a very short engagement window which I belive is more of a slave issue which I'm addressing this winter.

Yeah I've noticed the same but haven gotten used to it. Are you running the stock slave?

A large bore size master will shrink the engagement window.

mine is in a conversion (71 nova ) I used a dse fire walladapter plate and a stock ls1 98-02 camaro master, and and a camaro slave as well. like i said function /shifting is perfect but the engage ment window is very narrow, i talked to monster and they recommend I get a smaller diameter bore master from tick, which i did just havent got to install it yet.....
it' just a little annoying in very slow start/traffic situations

+1 for a monster if you haven't made a decision yet. Ran one of their LT1-S organic triple's in my 840whp CTS-V. Took 1.4 60' times like a champ and drove better than the stock clutch. Also the customer service from Eli at Tick and whomever he spoke with at Monster was superb. I intially wanted a more race oriented twin disk, but they spoke and gave me a call about how I drove the car before completing my order and since I dailied the car they recommended the triple for a better experience. Never had any chatter, got stuck in Orlando 5 o'clock bumper to bumper traffic many times and never once had an issue. I also recommend their billet bearing support as well.
