I am currently in the process of putting in a Libertys Clutchless 5 speed into a 99 firebird with an LS1. As far as tunnel mods go we will have pics shortly but the mock up looked like we might not have to cut up as much as 1st thought. The car should be up and running in about 2 weeks. Someone has to be the 1st one to do it right?

I have a lakewood specialty bellhousing with a cross shaft style clutch, the only thing LS1 left is the Flywheel. The cluch is a ram single disk slipper unit that is fully adjustable. As far as life on the cluch my friend has 100 passes on his and just gets it gone through at the end of the season. Enlighten me on what PITA factor is.

As far as the pain in the *** factor goes I am pretty good friends with the owner at Libertys and he is more than willing to help me with anything I need. Plus my friend has been running one for two years now so we are getting pretty used to it.
I'll put the pics up as soon as the cutting begins. Just got the transmission yesterday and I think it might be a little tough to hide that one, but hopefully it can be pretty well hidden because I dont want it to look like ****. Gimmy a few weeks the car will be up and running and should hit APE's dyno shortly after. The transmission has zero power loss going through it so i'm hoping for some good numbers on the dyno and good track times. Hopefully all the work and cash is worth it. It should be a fun trip down the track no matter what.

Matthew,
As far as set up mods Libertys will make the input shaft of the trans at any length you want, so all you have to do is buy a Lakewood Bellhousing for a small block chevy and a Libertys, measure where the pilot bearing lands in reference to the back of the block and add bellhousing depth. I have a 8 1/8" deep bellhousing. After that you give Libertys the specs on the car and they build the trans accordingly. Should be an adventure.

It's worked out great so far. The car has gone 9.27 @ 147.2 on motor and we have made 18 passes in the 9's so far and we have made not one clutch adjustment as of yet. Am I happy, hell yeah we set the LS1 NA record and now we are shooting for 8's NA next year. I love my trans and would never change it...
