Default Is the T56 supposed to be touching the tunnel?

I'm changing my clutch for the first time after my LS3 swap and noticed the rubber bump stop on the T56 seems to be making constant contact with the trans tunnel. Is this by design? I feel like it shouldn't be. I'm not having any luck contacting RPM transmissions to ask them.

Got a hold of rpm and they said 'yes' the t56 should be in constant contact with the tunnel.

Just got the trans back in after changing the clutch. Looks like there's a good 1/2" between the trans and the tunnel. Maybe it's an old mark.

I’d say it’s an old mark of some sort. There’s NO WAY that the t56 should contact the tunnel during use.

I had an issue with the driverside front hex bolt making contact with the transmission tunnel and it was solved by denting in the tunnel some and replacing the hex bolt with buttonhead allen bolt. Anytime the transmission would jump up it made contact at that one location. Is that some sort of a rubber or polyurethane bumb stop to aid in dampening the blow when the transmission jumps up? I did not notice that on the RPM transmission I purchased back in 2013.

It's a rubber bump stop, nothing special. Maybe I'm having a similar problem to you. It sounds and feels like it's near my feet.

Probably made them marks when you removed it. If it was constant contact the paint would be gone.

Factory piece on every T56 I've ever built, sounds like they forgot to put it on.
