Default Slave cylinder opinion

I recently purchased another Camaro and the slave cylinder decided to crap out. I order a replacement and dropped the trans. Upon removal of the trans, I found it is not a stock slave cylinder, but is an aftermarket Ram unit. I went through the file folder I received with the car and it looks like it was installed in 2008. The existing braided lines and fittings on the car for the slave cylinder will not connect to the factory.

My question is, would you purchase another aftermarket slave cylinder to put on or buy different braided lines to use the stock still slave cylinder?

I would get another Ram unit and bolt it back up.

I wouldn't hesitate to buy RAM as the stock slave cylinders were notoriously problematic. However, RAM makes a stock slave cylinder for the car, with stock fittings. Some other stuff is going on.

Do you have additional details about the parts, your master cylinder or pictures you can share?

Ram likely sells a rebuild kit for that. Probably just a pair of orings. My tilton setup is that way.

I would stick with this. Ram has some great information on their site. It looks like this unit has a lot of adjustability to it, so something to watch out for as its replaced or rebuilt.

I actually thought about calling them but haven’t gotten around to it. I just put a reminder in my phone for tomorrow. Probably a smart move. Thanks!
