Question Help w/ Squeeling Sound

Hello all. I'm having a very strange problem that I can't seem to find an answer for anywhere else on the forum. When I press in the clutch pedal I'm getting a very muffled shrill squeeling noise. At first I though it might be a belt, but it sounds more like it's coming from the transmission.

Does this mean I'm going to need a new clutch? If so, I've already decided to go with the Spec 3 with the billet flywheel. But my other question is should I get a new master cylinder for my '02 Z28 as well?

Thanks for the replies. Is there a guide to replacing these bearings?

Is it relatively easy to replace the bearings or will I have to take it for repairs? I'm pretty new to this so please bear with me. It's my birthday, so be kind.

So did anybody respond on what to do to change the throwout bearing? Cause my 99 SS is makin the same screaching noise right as i let out on the clutch, and sometimes it makes a small grinding noise. I figured it was the bearing, but how do you replace it? It is a repair that requires lots of tools and time? Thanks ahead of time

Throw out or pilot bearing, either way the transmission has to come out. Replace the clutch, flywheel, slave, throw out and pilot bearing. It's a fairly big job and requires a good set of tools.

I am in Houston Texas if any one is near just give me a call I can help you out. It could be the thowout bearing or the pilot bearing I've seen both make that kind of noise. Could be a number of things you just wont know untill you pull it and take a look. If you have any doughts about your mechanical skills take it to a qualified mechanice that you trust! If you don't know one ask people on the board who they have used in your area etc...
