like its not smooth goin into gear, its like it clicks into gear. my friend has a pro 5.0 and his springs or something are screwed up and when he takes it out of 1st it doesnt pop over between 3rd and 4th like mine, so that makes it more of a bitch to shift. dont know if thats a common problem

On my Pro 5.0 the notchy feeling is that it takes a little something extra to put the stick in gear and take it out of gear. It has never annoyed me once and actually gives it more feel since each gear feels different to me IMO (especailly the feel it gives when you are about to downshift and upshifting)

I have a Hurst shifter. Considering a Ripper though. The Hurst seems to hang up a bit at red lights.

I have driven with both but I like my B&M the best. Cut it 1 inch and you are set.

The alignment shims help set the position of the shifter, you can move it closer to you or further away. I'm not sure how they would mess up the tranny though.

Pro 5.0 all the way. The "notchy" feeling is how you feel it clicking into gear. If you want to check mine out, let me know.

It is much smoother, and you can tell so much easier when the car is in gear vs. when it isn't. I'd really like to try a 5.0 sometime to see if there is any real difference...

BTW, I've shortened my Ripper 2", and I love it even more.

lets see, i've had-
stock hurst
stock hurst with solid stick
ripper
pro 5.0

I went from stock hurst to the ripper. It was a big difference, a lot smoother and precise. My vote goes for the ripper, however, I have never tried the pro 5.0

I have owned all the different shifters except for the Kirban shifter. They are all nice shifters, even the $80 SLP shifter is a great upgrade from stock.
