Default Warranty?

Is a clutch a warranty item? I couldn't find anything in my warranty information referring specificly to the clutch. I even called GM's warranty department and couldn't get a straight answer. Just wanted to ask before calling my dealer. I have an 02' with 14.5k on it.

Most of the time the clutch is considered a normal wear item and is not covered under warrenty.

Yea, I figured as much, but 14.5k? I'm going to try to see what I can do, hopefully I can get some sort of compensation, we'll see...

I tried that a few years back. No warranty coverage whatsosever. I even bitched like hell at the service manager.

You would only get coverage in the first few months of service and only oif they thought it was a build problem.

Or if you could prove it was a problem caused by work sone at the dealership....i.e oil on the friction material...etc....which would be very hard to prove and place blame on.........

I got mine warrantied at 22K after the pedal would stick on the floor at odd times. They installed a master first and then when it continued they put in a Z06 clutch kit and slave.Don't ask me how but they did it.If the clutch "slips" I don't think they will.

If this was within the firs 3,000 miles then I would say you had a good shot at getting it replaced. At 14,500 miles, they are going to treat the clutch just like the brake pads.

Well I talked to Chevrolet and the dealer and both could not give me a decisive answer on whether or not the clutch is covered based on my current mileage. I am taking the car in on Monday morning and hopefully I can sell my argument that the clutch should be replaced under warranty. I am not optimistic. If there is no warranty, I'm ordering a McLeod twin disc setup.
