Some of the built T56's can handle a good amount of abuse it just depends what kind of BB. 450hp or 800hp it is going to make a huge difference. they are rated from the factory to handle 450hp and that rating is for about a 100k. Will handle more but not for ever. Rockland Standard gear makes one that they call Bullet proof? They sell the convertions to bolt up to any motor etc...

 

So that means the bolt pattern is the same[that is what the person was wondering]!!

That is not what I am saying they are different they just make bell housings and adapterplated to fit any application etc.

 

My question then is" Will the T56 off my 1994 LT1 bolt onto a GM Big Block as it is".

I thought SBC and BBC bellhousings were identical? Someone correct me if I am wrong..

 

Lt1 trans will bolt on, but needs custom flywheel and LT1 style hyrdraulics.

Weir hot rod products sells a conversion kit, that allows use of the LT1 trans with a regular bigblock flywheel. And he can use any clutch he felt like, that will mate up to the imput shaft.
