Default spec 3 guys please..

well, its been more than 2k since install. i did the proper (for the most part) break in for ~450 miles. the clutch seems to hold pretty good, im waiting for a good night to confirm this down at the track. but my question lies with engaging 1st. the car still shutters a little every so often, not near as bad as during the break in.. but its still there. just looking for some input on it. -g

It goes away. Mine did.

I beat the **** out of it at the track, including a horrid misshift into 2nd at 88 mph.

The chatter was basically eliminated after this day.

I just got my spec stage 3 on Monday. Getting ready to put it in. This topic has been keeping me awake at night also. I've heard that their hybird version (ceramic/carbon) chatters less than the standard carbon/carbon. (comments welcome on this statement) But I guess I'm going to go ahead and try the carbon/carbon and just try to break it in right. SPEC also recommends a new flywheel or at least skim .015" off the old one. This maybe the reason why so many people are having problems w/ chatter. The clutch surface needs a perfectly flat surface and the clutch needs to form itself to the new flywheel surface. Again, comments welcome.

Against my orders, my dealership mechanic did NOT resurface the stock flywheel with my Spec 3 install. He said it "looked fine" so he just did the install. I was

But so far, there have been no consequences. The clutch is working like a charm. Now we'll see whether longevity is affected by the lack of flywheel resurfacing.

ive got 600 miles on my stage 3.. im still wondering what all this chatter talk is about? i had the flywheel resufaced and used the slave shim. I havent once heard any chatter.. but 1 outa every 3 1st gear take off's, it shakes and shutters unless i give it extra throttle.. i hope it calms down like u all say. so far im really impressed with this clutch even though i absolutely hate hydraulic clutch systems...

The chatter will go away. I went to the track with about 500 miles on the clutch, beat the hell out of it and have had no chatter sense then Now I have around 10,000 miles on the clutch and ZERO probs with it, and thats with a lot of abuse!!

I had some chatter with my spec stage 3, after the 500 mile break in period I took it to the track and ran the hell out of it and the chatter just kept getting better until it was gone about a week later.

It's not a slip clutch. It has 2 modes, disengage, and ENGAGE!

I've got about 300 miles and a few HARD passes on my 3i. Doesn't chatter anymore. Beat up on it a bit.

Rev the car up to about 3K and S L O W L Y let the clutch out. This will smooth the disk out and stop the chatter you are talking about. I do it every now and then. You will also notice that after a hard beating at the track, it will feel better as well

Mine is going in right now. I hope everything will be fine with it. I had bad chatter on a previous car and it drove me nuts.
