From everything I've read on here lately people talk about buying a Minivac for bleeding it or it is a pain.

good luck doing it with out takin the master out.... Personally I dont think it can be done. By the way a lil word of caution takin the master out is the easy part, puting it back on is a beeoatch!!!! Better have a buddy help you and have some mechanic gloves or just be ready to have your hands all tore up. Bleeding the master is straight forward takes a lil common sense. You'll be ok. Be ready to spend no less than 3.5hrs. Oh last tip.....Do NOT FORGET THE lil O-RING sometimes it falls out and your fucked...

Yeah you're gonna have to remove the MC. Same procedure for a stock MC and the McLeod MC. Yeah don't forget and leave off the little o-ring at the MC end of the braided hose.

I wondered this too.

Has anyone done the drill mod without removing the master cylinder?

You guys say its not possible, but has anyone actually tried it?

Matts why dont you try it and when you get it done show us the better way, besides only the whole LS1 community has taken the long way and taken it off. But hey I wouldnt mind learning a shortcut.....Good luck. PS Go look at the Master Cylinder under the hood and then if you still think you can do it on the car, by all means my bad.

Chill dude, it was just a question.

Like most people, I don't want to do more work than I have to. I asked a simple question: Has anyone tried to do the drill mod without removing the MC.

I haven't done it either way. I just want to do it the easiest way. If nobody has done it and it is not possible, that's fine. But it's not like I said: All you guys are stupid and are wasting time when you could just forget removing the MC. NO. What I really wanted to know is, what is the best way to do the drill mod when not replacing the MC. I didn't know if it could be done without removing it.

Did it ever cross your mind that someone could ask a question on a TECH forum to learn the best way to approach something?

Everyone's not out to get you, and I'm not saying your stupid. I'm here to learn. So chill.

yea yea yea. well no offense taken, but the drill mod is an old topic and you should know by now that if people have taken it off, then theres a reason why, and if someone would of already said hey you idiots you dont have to take it off we would of told you so from the begining of this thread. Anyway kudos to you for tryin to take a shortcut. Once you actually do get it done you will know what I'm talkin bout.. Good luck.

When did I say that I was even going to try this? I never said that. I was merely asking if others had tried it. And I didn't know that everyone took it off...that's why I asked.

I have heard of one person who said he did it but i'm not sure i believe him. Maybe if you took the brake booster off or had the engine pulled or something like that.

Well, I believe the reason everyone pulls the M/C off is because you can't( meaning very hard to do ) remove/install the rollpin that holds the line into the M/C. And putting the M/C back in is a pain cause of the U-bolt that holds the M/C doesn't want to cooperate with only one person. ( I could only get one hand down there.) You can do it, but it's much MUCH easyer with 2 peeps. One inside holding the M/C while outside, you put the U-bolt in place. I did the drill mod with the stock M/C.

Believe me....I am a guy who looks to do a thing the simplest way possible. I could't feasibly see a way to do it that would be "simpler" than removing the MC.

Well I got it done, pretty simple, y does everyone use the mini vac, i just bench bleed it then put it back on and connected the line to the tranny bleed it a few times and it works fine no problems at all, the hardest part was putting it back in, found that its alot easier if you put the u bolt in the master cylinder before you put it through the wall and are down there tearing the **** out of your hands. took me bout 2 hours tops.

Good job. I've never used the mity-vac either...bench bleeding is the key.
