Getting tranny in

Getting tranny in
I've been working for 8 hours trying to get my transmission back in. I have checked and re-checked the splines in the input shaft. i've connected, disconnected and bled the slave. The closest i can get the tranny to the bell housing is 1 1/2 inches. It just won't go on any further, even with 4 guys pushing on it. i've got a large jack towards the rear and have raised and lowered it many times. All the bolt holes are lined up. My clutch is perfectly lined up.. i don't know what else to do.

Have you tried turning the motor over a little by hand & see if that helps while it is in 1 1/2 away?
Maybe start some bolts to help. Something has to be off alittle.
Did you replace the pilot bearing? Was this just a clutch R&R?
You may have to re-align your clutch disc to get it in there.

Pilot bearing, did you repalce it did you damage it is it in straight?
CLucth dis is it the right disk, are you sure, will the disk by itself fit on the input shaft
is there any plugs hose ect hangin blocking the bellhousing?
Is th flywheel tight.
Dont use bolts to pluu it in thats a good way to crak your bellhousing, strip threads
or damae the clutch or piliot
is you throw out on right
have you tried turing the tail shaft as you apply gentle pressure inward
Does your alignmet tool go in and out smoothly

I did not change the pilot bearing- It was changed 2 months ago by a shop. I took the tranny off to get a rebuild. Reinstalled my spec clutch with a new flywheel and that's it.
Alignment of clutch disk is perfect
Not close enough to start the bolts. I'll try turning the trailshaft

I had to get my trans jacked up so it was just about hitting the floor, slid it past the reinforcement on the floor, jacked it up again, and it slid right in. In other words the trans needs to hug the floor as you slide it forward.

You need to be carefull installing a trans so as it weight is not supported by the clutch disc hub. The input shaft engaged into the splines of the hub & the trans danging is not a good thing. Your clutch will thank you.

I had a problem with this when I did my conversion, but my slave cylinder wouldn't compress. The bolts weren't long enough to start so I got some longer bolts, I know you might strip the bolts but it worked for me. Once I got it in far enough I used the original bolts. If all else fails give it a shot.

I got it about an inch away from the bell housing, then got the bolts in there and bolted it up. Now I can't get the driveshaft in.. i must be drivetrain retarded or something. It's sticking into the tailshaft about 3/4 inch, but it won't go any further. Tried a little grease, still nothing.

I had the same problem. My tailshaft bushing got distorted when I installed it. The tranny place I got the parts from(which was closed for a week when this happened) told me this is fairly common. They claim that you need to use a press to put the new bushing in, you cannot drive it in with a driver and hammer.
I ended up pulling my tranny back out and putting in the longer bronze no-walk bushing from Rockland Gear.
Good luck!!
