Default Anyone else afraid of their Pro 5.0 shifter?

ok remembering back to last time i drove my car...
i have a pro 5.0 with a chopped stick and ive money shifted it 3 or 4 times.

i didnt break anything, but it still scared the crap out of me.

can anyone shift their pro 5.0 from 3rd to 4th FAST without grabbing your shifter backwards with your thumb down?
anyone with a T-handle B&M on top of their pro 5.0?
ive just got a standard **** but im wondering if the T-handle would get your arm close enough to the right position.
my car should be done soon, and i dont want to mess it up- grabbing the shifter backwards is not natural and i forgot a couple of times when it counted.

any input?

I use to be able to do it with my palm down, but now that my clutch is giving out, I can't exactly do that anymore.

The 3-4 shift? That's the easiest shift on my car, even easier than the 1-2 shift. The 2-3 is the one that needs some practice to bring my times down at the strip. To get the 3-4 down, just pull straight back and it should fall right into place with the Pro 5.0.

I agree, I have missed 4th more that any other gear. However If you think about it and practice some it comes natural. I have a small ball( off of a snapper riding mower) and a custome short stick. I hate the factory or these big *** ***** you can buy aftermarket.

Soooo, you prefer small ***** over big ones huh? j/k . a friend of mine has a hurst shifter in his w/ the small ball and i hate it. It feels like it is going to slip out of my hand. I like the factory hurst handle the best.

I'm not quite sure I follow this... Grabbing shifter backwards? Thumb down?

I run the stock Hurst **** with my Pro 5.0 and UMI stick. Very simple.

Put your elbow up and your forearm down, your palm is facing the passemger side of the car. dont know why but some people like to shift to 4th like that. I tried it and its not as uncomfortable as it sounds but I havent ever missed 4th so I just yank it back.

I've done the 3->2 (crap!) misshift with the stock shifter before.. Its not pretty.

Afterwards, I got the Pro 5.0 shifter, and at least do the "elbow out" form to make sure this mistake never happens again. I definantly like how the 5.0 shifter feels over stock.. should have done it when I first got the car.

Regardless of shifter, the elbow out tech basically makes it almost impossible to stick it in 2nd

Or to not ever worry about going 3-2 you can do a 2nd gear lockout like what I have and as soon as you go to 3rd hit a button right below shift **** and it locks 2nd gear out so you absolutely cant go to 2nd and can only go straight down the 4th

Too much thinking. I just row through them - I don't understand why some of you guys try to think so much when you're doing it! Just gotta let it flow

I think Matt Harlan is making up something like this "lockout" using the skipshift mechanism.
