Default I need your opinion guys...

I am getting ready to pull the tranny for a rebuild and install my Exedy clutch and flywheel. My question is should I replace my slave while I am in there? Since my tranny problems, the clutch has not come all the way up on a few occasions. I relate this to a bad clutch, no third gear, and a bent fork. The Exedy clutch is suppose to work well with the ls6 hydrolics. If the fluid looks dirty, is that normal? What would you do? If I just replace the clutch and tranny, I don't have to bleed anything, is that right?

Thanks

I'd leave it. Try and get all the dirty fluid out though. There are a couple ways to do it without getting air into the system.

Is there a thread that tells me how I can do that without getting air in the system?

Since you'll have the tranny out just let the slave dangle there. The easiest but slowest way would be to let it gravity bleed, just crack the bleeder and keep the reservoir full. I'm not sure how long this would take cause i've never tried it. Another way would be almost the same except help the fluid along by sucking it out with the mityvac.

If you decide to change the slave cylinder, or get air in the system some other way, this is my favorite way of bleeding it. I like it cause the air bubbles go up with the fluid instead of down.

Sears has cheap ones. Harbor Freight has plastic or alum 25.00 or 50.00 approx. This is the only way to go period, you will be pleased. Put the fitting that fits ( a pointed one) in the hole in the res and keep it topped off with fluid, put 20 lbs on it and watch the bubbles come up. Then pump the clutch and keep it at 20, ( once you have a good seal you should be able to walk away) first you will see large bubbles, then smaller, then so small it looks like foamy white. When it stops cap the res, and drive it awhile. Then come home and check it for more and you will find them for quite awhile if its been apart. Check between drives, or if mushy at all as they move around and you will find more, untill you have none.... Follow the directions when releasing the pressure, and when pumping, so as not to get fluid in the pump or air back into the system. You will catch on to it fast....You will need to alternate between holding the clutch to the floor and pumping it while under vacuum. I would change that fluid and go for it. I dont know of any real way to get it all out except this, as i can put it on any new car and get some air. Most auto stores also have it but Harbor Freight is cheapest ive seen. There are some better write ups here, do a search , i was in a fair hurry sorry..
