Default Shifter impressions...??

What aftermarket shifter are you guys using?

I am looking for a factor feeling shifter...I dont want anything notchy. Was thinking of going with the SLP unit. Mine just feels loose these days too much slop in it.

TIA

and the others will say b&m ripper and jareds short stick. the thing about these two shifters is they will have a slight hummm if you really listen close.

PRO 5.0 is the only way to go! haha that rhymes. But yea, the shifter is flawless. I opted for the short stick offered with the Pro5.0 from SpeedInc. I'd say get that shifter.

Sorry if I posted this in the wrong section...This place has so many these days!

Anyone know where the best place to buy the factory hurst would be (SDPC?)?

I dont care about short throws, I just want something that is firm and smooth. My dad drives the car most of the time now.

I've got the factory Hurst, my friend has the B&M Ripper, personally I prefer my Hurst. Not as 'notchy' feeling as the B&M even though it's a little taller.

An aftermarket shifter is inherently 'notchy'. It's not the actual shifter that creates the notchyness it's the fact the shifter creates a more direct linkage to the gearbox which itself is notchy. There are shifters that help with the feel but not much. My pro 5.0 works perfectly. The real advantage of a pro 5.0 or b&m (same difference) is down the road on the track, when it's easier to find the 2-3rd shift point. The reason stock shifters are not as direct is the play in the actual shift mechanism absorbs some of the noise from the transmission and doesn't trasmit as positive of a linkage along the way.
