Spec clutches, how many miles and launches do you have on yours??
how many miles/launches are on your spec clutch? and how do you like it?
I ask this cause I am buying a new clutch, and I want to stay around the cost of spec clutches. Also I have read many people are unhappy with spec and many love'em, and spec seems to be the most popular. I'm worried about dropping $$$ and spend the time installing it, only to have to replace the clutch in 2,000 miles.
So how many miles and drag launches are on yours?
Thanks everyone

cool. With all the horror stories I hear about spec clutches, I am little hesitate to buying one. I cant see buying a clutch that is only good 20,000 miles, when my factory one is still strong at 75,000miles with mods!

well first off you hear a lot of horror stories because soooo many people use spec as a clutch. people dont always tell you when they clutch is great, but they jump to it when something goes wrong. i have 2 friends who run spec clutches and they love them. i was going to get one but the deal i got from TSP was too good for me to pass up on the Ram Powergrip, otherwise i would have gotten a spec. my clutch goes in on thursday and ill be sure to post up how i feel about it when i get the car back.
also you have to realize that everyone drives differently and the life of your cluth depends on that

I got 4K miles and 35 or so track passes on it. I took the tranny out because of a problem and noticed the clutch is almost down to the rivets, the PP looks like a 40K mile brake rotor. Its pretty bad. I'm in the process of getting a new one but not sure what to go with. Its a hard call. who ever puts it in tell them to make sure every thing is absolutely clean. I'm not sure but I think thats what could of happened to mine. A tranny shop put it in. This time I'll put it in. I'm not giving spec my money again though.
But GOOD LUCK!

country boy did you get a new Hydos??? I've had mine for over a year and the only thing is it has a short pedal throw. I've got used to it. My old clutch slipped and i thought it was the clutch it was the slave cyl. . I got both changed since it was all ready apart. I love my Spec it grabs like crazy I believe its somewhere over 10k. I tell you how it is once I get the stoker and nitrous in it.

Right now my T/A is handicapped by the clutch. I ran last night a GIR and could only muster a 13.2 @108 w/ a 2.07 60ft. Clutch slipping 1st and 2nd gears. I am looking for someone else's experiences. How do centerforce clutches hold up and grip? I want the most bang for the buck. I have to have a clutch that grabs as I plan to spray in the future.

The first SPEC III got me three launches and blew up... The 2nd one gave me 5 launches and started slipping. After that got the Mcleod with more than 50 launches no problems until i got the SC on. Now im trying the Textarila.

I got 12k off of mine without one day on the track. Now I'm using the Ram Powergrip. SO far 4500 with no problems. I can already notice that the clutch is releasing farther out. I figure its because of my crappy low end and always having to slip the clutch so it wont chatter. This one will probably go the way of the dinosaur soon also.

I have the SPEC II and really like it. Only about 3,000 miles on it, but it out grabs my old centerforce that only lasted a year and a half (partially beacuse it was installed wrong by the guy who had the car before me). A lot depends on how you drive a clutch, which is apparent by all the different responses this post has gotten.
