I have done several of these conversions . Heres a list of what you will need :

Lt1 T56
T56 shifter
Lt1 bellhousing
Lt1 clutch fork
Lt1 flywheel if you have a 1 piece rear main seal or a center force flywheel if you have a 2 piece rear main .
Lt1 clutch
Lt1 clutch fork
Lt1 hydraulic line
3rd gen master cylinder
3rd gen clutch pedals
Spohn cross member
5 or 6 speed center console

Let me know if you need some info .

the Ls1 tranny does not bolt to the old 350/305 block, only the LT1.

Hit up Andris over at http://www.skulte.com/ - he's done a number of them as well. He'd be able to answer any of your questions. He's even got an article here:

http://www.skulte.com/T56.html

As for the LS1 tranny, the bellhousing, front plate, and input shaft are different (as well as how the slave works). If you use the LT1 pieces, it'll bolt right up (assuming you have the right clutch).
