I've been reading up on Textralia clutches, particularly the OZ700 X and Z grips.....they seem to be hit or miss lately. Some people say it's the best clutch they've ever used and some say the exact opposite. I was seriously considering that clutch for my car, but with so many different opinions it's kinda shunned me away from the brand altogether. My clutch is dead at the moment and I'm in a predicament that I'm sure many of you are either going through or have been through already. I can't decide which clutch to purchase! I'll be sticking with this thread to hopefully hear some more opinions and help me decide whether or not to go with Textralia.

Does anyone have feedback on using the OZ700 X-grip on a road course? I'm looking for a new clutch that can handle the heat and sustained high rpm(up to 7k) up and down shifting of road racing, plus the occasional trip to the strip, while being comfortable on the daily grind.

I have an oz700 in my car and have had no problems with it. I have roughly 25k miles on it and about 100 passes, raninging from 350rwhp up to my current 525rwhp. I run hoosier full slicks on 15" welds and dump the clutch at 5k plus at the track. It is starting to get worn out i think and may be time to replace.

Cool, more often then not people seem to be happy with them. It was just hard to ignore some of the issues others were having. I went ahead and ordered a Z-grip anyway. We'll see how it works out.

I have ben thinking about the Textralia xgrip and z grip. I dont know what to get.
I run the car mostly on the streets, and i want the car to be driveable in the 15-20mph range when crusing, but i dont want the clutch to slip wen puching it. got 385RWHP right now but will upgrade in a year and a half to about 500rwhp.
Shall i go with xgrip or zgrip? or maby an other brand?

The Z-grip is more agrresive. Its not harsh or a hard pedal. Ive been running one for almost 4yrs and about 80,000 miles. Half of that is on a H/C car and took it out today to put in a new one with a billit flywheel(wasnt an option when I got it a few yrs ago). It still grabbed but had low pedal cuz a worn clutch and it was worn. My flywheel and pressure plate had hot spot and was cracked, the clutch had some material gone. But I am impressed on my experiance with this product.

Put in the Z grip last May. Drove it easy hoping the chatter would go away. At 450 miles I made 3 track passes on Eagle F1's. The chatter got worse with each pass. After that, it was embarrassing driving on the street. The car shook so bad I thought something was about to explode.
I took the clutch out and it was fried. I'm putting in an organic clutch this week just to get the car back on the road and off the stands.

My 0Z700 was shot after 3k miles of pretty easy driving. Only saw 1 day at the track, maybe 6 nitrous passes, and minimul traction - I had a 1.71 60' once, the rest were all 1.90s.
It did grip well, and chatter went away after a few hundered miles or so. But it doesn't make up for the fact that my far less than 700ft/lbs of tq car managed to overheat and warp the flywheel, and eat the clutch and pressure plate. BTW, burnouts were done with a line lock and in the water box.
Very upset with costumer service right now as well. Very slow, drawn out process trying to get this thing warrenteed.

I wanted to comment. I've been running the X grip for about a month now and I've gone to the track a couple times since. I have an ls1 rx7 which come with a slightly longer pedal travel and a larger bore master cylinder, thus we move more fluid than fbodies. This should make it take less pedal travel to engage disengage this clutch and I can tell you my setup barely engages/disengages it. I actually had to adjust the rod of the MC to get every bit of travel out of it or else the clutch would be half engaged alll the time. Even now it engages off the floor which (at least to me) is annoying as hell. If anything in a performance car I want a clutch that engages disengages after only an inch or 2 of movement, and the stock clutch was close to that.
Because the engagement point is so low I feel like its harder to get into gear and now my 3rd gear is harder to find and I think I'm gonna need a tranny rebuild.. cant really say this is all the clutchs fault but when your driving a car with a realy low engagement point and your trying to shift as fast as possible your chances of grinding going into the next gear are greater. Also I bled the hydraulics a million times so dont even ask.
I know adjustable MCs help this but honestly its bull **** that you even need to use one, plus textralia doesnt suggest it and I cant put one on my car. I was thinking about shimming it but again textralia doesnt suggest it.
