clutch and master/slave cylinder replacement cost?
#1
Question for fellow WS6 owners
I received an estimate today for a master/slave cylinder replacement. Total amount $831.65. If I get the clutch replaced also, it would be $1725.00. Has anyone had this done, and how much should it cost? I have a 2000 T/A WS6. The clutch pedal is sinking to the floor while I sit at a light, and it sticks and won't come back up. I can pull it up with my foot, and it works fine while I'm driving. Thanks in advance for your help.

I would definitley say the clutch is shot or very close to it.....try looking at some of the sponsors and see if they can find you some better prices. A new clutch shouldnt cost you 17 and some change.....unless that includes the install?
I have priced clutches at roughly 1k.....But that was like 6 months ago. Good luck....

No, the clutch (kit) costs about $700. The rest is for master/slave and install. The clutch still seems to work OK when I'm driving, it sinks to the floor when sitting still with it pushed in (hydraulics).

If you live near Atlanta I'll charge you $400 for the labor and a clutch will only cost $425. Somebody is trying to ream you big time. Don't let them work on your car!!!!!!!!!
Big ******' rip off right there.

I paid $350 for the install and I think I had $4-500 not sure for the spec stg3 Xpad 6-puck with a billit steel fly wheel master & slave cylinders shipped to my door I have the place I got it from somewhere and might be able to find my invoice somewhere around here ... BTW it was a "speed shop" in Dallas that did the install no shade tree action. Check with some of the Fla sponsors if there are any and they should give you the hook up

I had my Honda Civic DX 1997 two door master/slave cylinder replace. I was charged $407, tax included. After the replacement, I verified the price of each cylinders at Autozone. Both will cost me $37. The master cylinder is priced at a little over $24 (they charged me $79) and the slave cylinder is priced at a little over $11 (they charged me $69). The labor is $85 for each ($127 for extended whatever). I feel rip off because of how they priced it. And check how to replace on the internet, it is not that hard.

Well the master cylinder pays 1.3 hours and the slave pays 4.2 hours - sounds about right to me. There is a LOT overlap though if the clutch is getting replaced with the slave - but to just do both cylinders your talking 5.5 hours plus parts. Again - sounds about right to me. Add the clutch I'd tack on another hour or so plus the parts. See if you can bring your own parts, that may save you some cash.
Jonpaul - are you familiar with the term "making money"? Sounds like you, sir, are not. Its called parts mark up. Your not gonna find a shop around that doesnt do it. AND how do you know they were quoting cheap Autozone parts? What if they used something decent like NAPA or CarQuest - or hell, even OEM Honda!!! Plus, if you want to put the absolute cheapest parts you can find in your 16 year old Honda - great - but some of us actually value our cars around here. And yea - its not hard to replace a slave cylinder - all you gotta do is remove the transmission! Sorry but jonpaul - your entire post irritated me man. It goes to show how little people know about the service industry. Every customer is getting screwed - yea, right....

That dude's post is 19 years old, lol. I highly doubt a) he's around to help and b) that he'd still charge 2005 labor costs. DIY, man. A clutch replacement on an F-body is cake.
