T56 repair manual?
Anyone know where I can purchase a T56 repair manual? I believe some Chevy dealership sells it in the northwest part of the US. Anyone have the link to it?
Thanks!
Jason

I have one - it's great! If you just need certain info copied I can mail you that, but if you are going to undertake the rebuild yourself go for the manual.

Re: T56 repair manual?
Thanks Chris! I'm just going to purchase the entire book. 4th gear is popping out of gear and it makes a loud "metal-on-metal" sound when shifting at WOT. I know it is just about time for a rebuild. All the other gears are fine though. Just that damn 4th gear...lol
Have you rebuilt one yet?

Re: T56 repair manual?
Your tranny sure has taken some abuse with all that speed shifting you do. LOL. Mine is in bad shape too. Mine grinds 2nd and 3rd on quick shifts(really bad when cold), pops out of 3rd sometimes and got locked in 4th gear twice. I ordered a syncro kit, 3-4 steel shift fork, all new shift dawgs, and rear seal for mine today for $300. Hopefully the syncro teeth on the gears are still good. The gears are $150 each from D&D. I have a service manual in the link below in .PDF format. I'm not gonna try this one myself. I'm pulling my tranny out soon and letting a local tranny guy do the work.

Re: T56 repair manual?
Haven't had to rebuild mine yet - the LT1 tranny's really do seem to last a little longer? Have helped with others though - it's not bad really, and with a press you can do all of it yourself. About the only real "upgrades" are to get the synchro blockers with the CF friction material as well as the cast-iron shift forks. You could probably cryo misc parts (or the entire tranny) - though if you cryo'd anything I would just do the input and output shaft.

Chris, I have been saying this for years but everyone still insists on saying it's not so
Jason, you'll need a special puller from GM to complete the job. Aside from that, I think the book should tell you everything you need to know.

Jason, Take a look here http://www.ttcautomotive.com/contact/litrequestform.htm
This on the ttc site that shows the Service Manuals. The same manual is only $8. I got mine from Salle for ~15. Its PN#LD56-0610-0199.
Jamie,
Give Walt at ProMotion in Ft Lauderdale a call on any other parts you might need. I only paid 129 for my second gear from him.

I would agree that this is true, not because of the tranny, but due to the clutch problems that are just now starting to get worked out. I've had two rebuilds in the past year. All of the damage was due to clutch issues, mostly disengagement. I think that once the clutch issues get worked out that the longevity of the LS1 trannys will be much better. Just my .02
