The only thing that will hold to that kind of power is a G-Force Internal T56. You are looking at about $5000 with labor, parts and a warranty with me building it. That saves around $800. Could be a little less but I think that is about the ball park. Call me if you have any questions about it. I am a G-Force Dealer.

Thanks,
Joe

What i am looking for is a street/track transmisson that can hold up to at max 900hp. This is not going to be a track only car, it will mostly be a weekend street car. ( just something to go out and play in) But i want to feel secure enough to know that i ca lay on it and not break something.

**** with that much power you had better worry about all the stuff around the t-56 also, 1k is alot of money but it can take a beating, I bet if you never take it to the track you could get away with the basic rebuild including the billet key, carbon synchros, 3-4 iron fork, and a viper output shaft. This is all assuming roll racing though. If you are gonna do 5k dumps alot of **** is gonna break and you might wanna consider auto so its easier on the drivetrain and chassis.

what are your ET goals?

Tosto has the fastest NA 6 speed car right now, it runs 9's, has a basically stock t56, except its proshifted, and it *only* had 600rwhp.

I have 427ci engines with 200 shots of gas street racing with a slightly built T56. The only problem is that you run the risk of blowing it up and with that much power, the G-Force internals is proven to last. An average T56 that will handle what you are looking for is around $1950 and would have mikronite finished gears, bronze pads, billet keys and so on. I think that would be your only way to go.

The proshift is not for the street. I have a proshifted T56 in my cam only car that I built and I can tell you from personal experience, it is not friendly on the street. Build the T56 the right way and you will not have any problems. If you have any questions just let me know and I will try and help you out.

Thanks,
Joe

My FLP Extreme Duty T56 is holding up well after 1/2 a year. One track apperance. Chuck does a great job over there. There also a sponser.

Fwiw I had no real problems with the stock T56 until I got over 800rwtq, at which point it would strip the gears off of the input shaft, and 3rd gear. (never at the track, always from a roll in 3rd on the street).

The G-force T56 has been holding up great, but it is a bit noisy in 1st-3rd gears.

I have built at least four of our extreme duty T56's that are in street/strip cars that make 750-800rwhp. One F-body for sure has gone 9.37 and this car is driven hard all the time. I think besides having a well built trans at this power level you need two other things, A good clutch that releases under extreme conditions and most importantly a good driver.

Just wondering who's car that was? (I thought Taner had the fastest 6-speed F-body with a 9.40)

I believe his time was actually 9.34 at 148 mph. He doesn't post on the boards. I can tell you it's a 1995 Camaro Z28, 396, Procharger F1, 12 bolt (3.73 gear), F.A.S.T., 771 rwhp, and an FLT built Extreme Duty T-56.

US terminology for some parts may vary from the UK, although I think I get what most parts are.

But with regards to Sliders, Synchros, Forks, Fork pads etc etc. Dont most of these items refer to shifting mechanisms only ?

If so, how do these go to making the trans stronger a far as surviving with xxx lbft of torque ??
For most upgrades, apart from the Mikronite treatment, what is actually done in order to prevent gear/tooth breakage under extreme power ?

I'm running a stock T56 at present, but sooner or later it will probably break. I'd like to be well informed as to what options there are for an upgrade when that happens.
With new engine, I'd hope to be making around 800rwhp ( I can hope lol )

I know G-Force is an option, although it sounds rather pricey. Although peace of mind is also nice.

If I was buying, I would need an outright sale. Shipping my trans to the US and back wouldnt really be an option.

What are the weakest links within a stock T56 ?

Oh yeah... almost forgot. The alot of the work on this car was done by FLP including the tuning by Dan Bills of FLP, F1 installation, intercooler design by Don Kenik from FLP, custom intercooler tubing by Don Kenik (using the mandrel bender), etc.
