Default Clutch makes a ticking sound

When I have my car in neutral and let the clutch pedal out, it starts making a ticking sound coming from the clutch area that can be heard inside the car. As soon as I push the clutch pedal to the floor, it stops. Any ideas?

I've had a Textralia clutch for about 1000k miles now, broke it in properly and everything and had it professionally installed.

My Spec 3 does the same; I always assumed it was normal.

Could be a rattling pilot bearing. If it's only happening when the clutch is out it's involved with something connected to or touching the input shaft.

How could I check that out? Probably involves removal of the clutch, huh?

Default I am guessing throwout bearing.

My throwout bearing makes a little noise when there is no pressure on it (when the pedal is not depressed). It irritates the hell out of me but it won't hurt anything. This is in my '56 with centerforce clutch and pressure plate. I'm too lazy to take it apart and replace it and anyway it would be my luck the new one would do the same thing.

Could also be a throwout bearing, good call warpwr.... I'd just keep an eye on it and if it gets louder do something about it. Either way to fix it you've gotta pull the trans.

Thanks for the info guys. I'll keep an eye on it and see if it gets worse. If so I'll have to run it to the shop cause trannys and clutches are beyond my base of knowledge.
