When I drove my car home, it was the first time in almost 2 years that I had driven stick. By the time I made it home, I was already in the swing of it. I think if you're going to teach her, you should teach her the fundamentals of the manual trans. Some people just hit the clutch and don't even know what the pedal does! If she knows why you need to do this and that, she can figure it out better on her own with your guidance!

My g/f can drive nething. Shes 5'0 and isn't afraid of squat. Lst weekend was her first time on a snowmobile and she launched it 5-6 ft in the air only to bail off mid air(she was way outta shape) and come up out of 4-5 feet of powder laughing her tiny little *** off wanting to do it again. NO WAY IN HELL IS SHE GETTING BEHIND THE WHEEL OF THE IROC!!

Let my sister drive my truck once, amazed me when she took off and shifted that thing way better than I did when I first started, and this is like my 3rd consecutive manual equipped rig I've owned, LOL

Of course, not her first time driving standard, she has a little 4 speed Toyota pickup she bombs around the farm in, lol

The first time I drove one of these F-bodies was in a mid 80s Camaro with a built to the hilt 350 / Muncie something or other. I had a heck of a time trying to get it to go, seemed like it had no gearing on it's side in 1st. Later discovered that car trannies have their 1st gear up and to the left, in all my trucks, first is down and to the left, so I was starting the car off on 2nd, lol doh!

Once I got that sorted out, it was good to go, and definitely a fun little car to drive!

I learned a little on my friends cars, then when I was about to purchase my car about a week in advance I just went to a whole bunch of new and used car dealerships to test drive stick cars and got the hang of it, in one day I test drove a 350z, the new gti, a stang, a 96 vette and...a miata lol, by far the vette got em all.

Also have to keep in mind if she knows how to drive your car, you will have a DD or on long trips you could take turns instead of going the whole way on your own against those shitty drivers out there lol. Also the point the other guy made, she will want to drive it all the time if she has a car worse then yours or if you use that car the most to travel around town. This is a 50/50 here. You chose.

It doesnt hurt the car to stall it a couple of times. If your a good teacher, they shouldnt ever stall it. I have taught a couple of girls to drive stick, and they didnt stall it once. It bucked a whole hell of alot, but never stall.

When I let my x-girlfriend drive my five speed cavalier, i got out and she locked the doors....i put my foot behind the tire so she would move and she put it in reverse and moved back so it was just over my toes. I was yellin and she didnt belive me she was on my toes. Damn that hurt, but she made up for it after that...thankfully.

I don't think it would hurt to start with the T/A, but the S10 might be less intimidating and easier to learn. My wife learned on my sons S10 before test driving a 73 Pantera. She drove the s10 around the block a couple of times and then went to the dealer and they gave her the Pantera. So she really learned from the Pantera. lol

I let my fiance work on her launches in mine she didnt mess anything up. We had a incident where she redlined the **** out of it when I was trying to teach her how to power shift . My fiance actually suprised me how consistant her launches were.

Hmm, I let my little 5'0" girlfriend learn on mine. That way she could go brag to all of her guy friends that she can drive a 6-speed 420rwhp car She did fine, didn't kill it once, and didn't slip it bad either That was with the car bucking bad down low too!

If she isn't a retard (and has any kind of leg muscle if you have a non-stock clutch), and you have any confidence in yourself to explain things well and how and why things happen with a manual transmission, there shouldn't be a problem.

My fiance has no car at the moment and i let her take mine to work sometimes when she needs to, after i taught her how to drive it...only bad thing she has done is put miles on it.....no damage at all and she has borrowed it quite a few times......i say if you trust your ability to teach then go for it, plus she will have a blast behind the wheel
