RAM or MCLEOD????
I am need of a clutch used with nitrous. Ive heard both good and bad about the RAM and MCLEOD. RAM=$400 while MCLEOD=$900.
From past experience, which one would you go with, considering I really dont want to drop 900 on a clutch.

LOL
You really think once you make serious power, you can buy a clutch once??
A clutch becomes a regular maintainance item when you start beating on it.
I personally would rather spend $400 on a clutch that will hold the power every summer than $900.
I run a RAM, and have had nothing but great results.
And yes, i change the clutch twice a summer. But what do you expect. holding alot of power and lasting a long time is ALOT to ask of any clutch

Re: RAM or MCLEOD????
I put the McLeod Kevlar single disk through holy hell for a solid year, 15k miles and probably over 400+ 1/4 mile launches on ET Drags in the 1.5-1.6 range. I went ahead and ordered a new disk before pulling the tranny figuring it was due for another disk. Hell I bet I could have went another 15k abusive miles on this disk..it wasn't hardly half used.
Haven't used a RAM but if it's all organic it's gonna wear quick just like a McLeod all organic disk would.

Well the base model is, thats about it. The 6130 is a kevlar disc and the 900 seri is a sintered iron disc. I would definately go with Ram over McCleod.
Im not sure what you have heard bad about Ram clutches besides my lil ordeal, which wasnt Rams fault. Their customer service is awesome and the clutch cant be beat.
BTW, Harlan is right, once you start putting some serious power to the ground, you might as well get used to replacing the clutch. It definately becomes a wear item.

Re: RAM or MCLEOD????
Summit has em for 340s something I think. Shipped. Also, Barnett Racing here in tl carries them. Prices are a lil bit lower. 404 522 3497 ask for Glenn and tell him Ron sent you. He does good things for people.

The 6130 disk is one of their more aggresive disks, but I absolutely love mine. Drives like stock and I have personally seen this disk hold 700 ft lbs of torque . You can use the stock flywheel, just have it resurfaced and you will also need to knock out the dowel pins on the flywheel. I believe a couple of our sponsors sell Ram clutch's but not at Summit's price.

Re: RAM or MCLEOD????
How long would Harlan's clutch setup last on a car with 380-390 RWHP and occassional 125 shot that only goes to the track a few times a year. It's a daily driver. Thanks.

I am also using the rev lok and it's holding up great. I am about to pull it out to see what it looks like after 5 months of abuse.

Re: RAM or MCLEOD????
thats what I'm running but I have an 11.5" disk...the killer harsh one
here was the clutch after 6000 miles

it wasn't even fully grabbing yet LOL...talking about a clutch slow to break in. I pulled it 2 weeks ago and it looks about the same still (~12K miles)

Re: RAM or MCLEOD????
is that sintered iron disk clutch easy to drive around?? i mean it will obviously take some getting used too?? just curious cause my car is a daily driver....its either this or the ram clutch....
