The Best V8 Stories One Small Block at Time
I tried the hays 10.5 inch Borg and Beck plate with the sintered disk. I only had it in for a short time and took it right back out. The 55 Chevy clutch linkage doesnt have the ratio required to move the bearing enough to disengage the clutch.
I switched back to my 11" Centerforce Dual Friction pressure plate with the 10.5 Ram 900 series disk. Pure Gold! Easy pedel, clean release and the clutch will tolorate the increased slippage off the line from using a muncie. Its been used a few months at the drags and still works well. Does not swell and stick from heat, and has the cleanest shift I ever had in that car. Nothing like a propper working clutch with a supremely smooth shifting trans like an old Muncie! You can't miss! However, the car could really use a lighter pressure plate even than this, but the last time I tried to talk with a tech at CF, they were uncooperative and would not tell me the static pressure of the D/F pressure plate. Just fed me some bull about that not meaning anything and all that matters is holding power. Aparently they do not understand the art of "tuning" a clutch...
Had just got off the dyno, 370 to the wheels.
Probably going to an LS7/LS2 setup for my FM13/4.10/315 BFG's buildup this summer. I'd like it to hold a HSW N20 setup as well.. wel'll see.
