My stock '02 LS6 is holding perfectly after 40k miles of straight abuse and around 20 track passes. Car currently makes 421rwhp.

I don't know how much longer it'll hold out when I bolt on the twin turbo kit though.

Probably going with an aluminum LS2 flywheel/LS7.

FWIW, I will never recommend anyone to buy SPEC. Try it out if you like, But You will be disappointed. Mine didn't just wear out, but one of the springs dropped out upon removal meaning it was already broken. Don't even get me started on the chatter!!!!
I'm very happy with my LUK Gold clutch. The diffrence is night and day. This clutch is a blessing. Feels stock, but grabs nicely without that dam chatter.

Spec is synonomous with "your springs will fall out kid, what r u crazy?"

If I was running a spec I wouldn't wait for it to fail, I'd take it out and replace it with a clutchnet.com or a valeo if money was low. Then I'd tie it the back of my rearend but long enough so it hangs behind the license plate with a sign sayn "spec is dookie".

Or I may modify it by simply shaking it a few times, until of course the spring would fall out, enlightening it so I can Frisbee it with a dog.

You can paint an arrow on it and spin it around to use it for spin the "clutch".

I wonder if I were to tie one to a tree during a hurricane, if the springs would fly off?

I can always leave the springs in tho, and sell it as a ninja weapon... instructions reading : "fling this towards your enemy, as it zooms by them, the springs will automatically release piercing their neck areas and they will bleed to death."

If I fidget with it enough I can prolly turn it into a really cool hubcap. It's kevlar material may never rust and protect me from bullets in the ghetto.

I could put it over my head when I go the beach. And it become the next en vogue item in south beach, it would sell like hotcakes some more!!

I could open up an online bizniz "I weld spec springs in.com" motto reading "tired of these dang spec spring falling out?, for only 19.95 I can weld these for you, or 3 easy payments of 7.97 on your credit card."

My new kick it line to chicks is "my z...yep yep...400hp and a Spec..yep yep" their response??? "lets go to the room baby".

Even Bush has a thing for specs, his plans are to deport them to tijuana if their not registered. Problem like all others...solved.

How many licks does it take to get to the springs in the center of a spec-clutch-blow-pop? (in that order)

Not too bad. I don't need a flywheel though - i have an aluminum one from spec. So take that out of the equation and that's a pretty good price. Almost certainly gonna be my next clutch.

Well, no. The LS7 REQUIRES that you use the LS2 flywheel, so don't count it out. They are NOT the same, and the LS1 style flywheel CANNOT be made to work with the LS7 clutch.

I paid 786.04 shipped for the LS7CLUTCHKIT [which includes flywheel, PP, and disc], and also in that order got a new pilot bearing (roller style), 01+ slave, and 01+ master (Mine's a 98). I also got new clutch bolts. All from fredbeans.com.

Install was straightforward, no spacers needed behind the slave. Both slave and master come full and bled, so after I did the drill mod to the master hose restriction, I just bled the master again over the sink. With both master and slave bled, no bleededing on the car was needed. Some have commented that the pedal starts a bit low; I pumped the pedal a few times with my toes curled over the end, and had the pedal start off dead center of travel.

Even with only a hundred miles the clutch was solid; at 500 miles of moderately hard break-in, including a couple rolling full throttle runs through the gears, it feels as though it'll hold anything my stock engine can hit it with, but I have yet to try a serious launch on sticky tires at the track.

Wow you paid to much for a "stock clutch".

Competion clutchs has a kit everything minus throw out bearing for 499.99. 16lb steel flywheel, 6 puck and a heavy duty pressure plate, you cant beat it.

I have been beating on mine for a while now several track days and not the first problem.

just cause alot of people are using spec.. doesnt mean they are working.

Just means alot of people are using it.

Sort of like Centerforce in the older muscle cars.
