so today just normally driving after releasing the clutch pedal i hear this loud pop. sounded like it was in the inside of my car maybe my shoe lace got caught on something under the dash or something?? but then i noticed that i had some more play in the clutch and it doesnt catch until i press like 20% down on the clutch pedal!! any ideas???

 

hey the shaft on your clutch pedal has probably broken, if so its just a sleeve that can be welded to stay in place and it will fix the play in the pedal hope this helps

 

look where it goes through the firewall and u can see what its doing when u move the pedal

 

Are you talking about the stub where the master cylinder rod clips on to the pedal?

 

It could have been the little spring that pushes the pedal up. They break all the time.

Its the little clutch return spring. Broke on mine 3 years ago. Its no big deal.

 

i looked at the clutch pedal and im not exactly sure what to look for? i hope its just the return spring. all i am experiencing is it takes no effort to put the clutch pedal down to like 20-30% then itll start catching.

 

Well there could be air in the system, but maybe you were not feeling it as much because the spring was doing its job. Then when the spring broke, there was not as much resistance which could have made it more noticable. When I took off the panel down there, part of a spring fell out and when I looked up there you could see where it had broken. You might try bleeding the hydrolics in case there is any air in it.

 

i dont know how to do that, or do i trust my self enough

 

Basically, what you're feeling is the hydraulics. On mine there is a good 2 inches that are squishy. This is due to the hydraulic not yet being engaged. Look for a little black funnel looking spring.

For the record, i never fixed mine. Its only job is just to make the first 1 or two inches of engagement not feel squishy.
