What the Heck is That Skip Shift For?

Compared to what the price of fuel will be 20 years from now $3.00 per gallon is dirt cheap!!! Enjoy it now.

Shoot, I just took my big block 'cuda cross country to WI. @ about 13 mpg (on a good day
) 3000 miles in about one week!!!Oh by the way, I plan on doing the Radio Shack !cags, looks pretty easy. That darn skip shift will almost cause an accident trying to pull out into traffic

yea!The auto cars on the other hand got 2.73 gears.
booo!Fuel economy standards or something changed for the 04 GTO's. Manuals and auto's both got 3.40 gears.
yae!It only activates under a certain RPM, once the engine is warmed up and the throttle position is under a certain percent. So if you hold 1st a little longer you can avoid it. Just unplugging it will set a trouble code, so add a resistor to the circuit. That way the PCM will see the resistance and think the coil is still plugged in. There's no way to turn off the dash light that I'm aware of, but you soon stop noticing it.

yae!Yeah the thing that changed was GM caring if you pay the gas guzzler tax. '04 GTO auto's had about a $1,300.00 gas guzzler tax attached to the sticker price. The m6s met the fuel economy requirements therefore did not have the gas guzzler tax.
If you're going slow and want to do it economically you can yourself go from first to third or fourth gear. Then you have your own option.
BTW, isn't there a way to disable it in the ECM?
