Default Just installed Pro 5.0, now have a rattling noise.

Well I got the 5.0 and the Lous short stick in today and everything went pretty smooth i guess. But when I went for a quick trip to test everthing out I noticed a rattling noise coming from the shifter!! It only rattles when I'm accelerating too. The noise isn't really very loud but its noticable. Anyone have an idea of whats wrong?? Oh and like everyone has said, the Pro is a very noisy shifter compared to the stock hurst. But I do like the shifter though, sits pretty low with the short stick...

You answered your own question. Nothing is wrong. You replaced the OEM shifter handle that had a rubber insulator with a solid metal piece. Now more noises are being transmitted through the shifter handle into the passanger compartment.

I suggest you take the pro 5.0 off, send it to me and put your stock shifter back in the car. The noise will drive you nuts. PM me for my mailing address...

Uhh well not really. When I'm just cruising, not shifting through the gears, I can hear a slight vibration rattle. It's mostly when I'm accelerating also. I'm thinking I may have not put enough RTV silicon in between the shifter and tran. mount and thats whats causing the rattling. Or maybe I didn't quit tighten down the shifter as much as I should?? I'm not sure, any help is appreciated

How exactly did you tune it out?

Yeah, without a rubber dampener, you're going to hear EVERYTHING going on in the transmission... I have the pro 5.0 and a short stick and it's the same way, even after having the transmission rebuilt.

67Firebird455: Well thats good to hear. Do they make a rubber dampener for aftermarket shifters? OH and I will say this, the first time I drove the car it was rattling, but I drove it today and didn't notice it.
