Z06 clutch What is the best clutch set up to by. I have a 2000 Z and have only taken it to the track once. I guess just from my regular hard driving (1st to 2nd scratches) I wore it out. It drives but I can't launch or make high rpm shifts. I have heard some different opinions on this subject. Will the Z06 clutch assy and flywheel along with the new master and slave hold up to a moderately modified LS1 or do I need to go aftermarket? I've heard some of the aftermarket clutches are hard to break but don't engage very well. Any comments would be helpful.

Re: Z06 clutch well I have the kartek clutch and I am very pleased with it. it's expensive but feels like the stock clutch and holds real good. I wouldn't go with ZO6 unless you are not modifying your car.

Re: Z06 clutch I have the Z06 clutch in my 99 SS. When i replaced the stocker (at 30k miles), i put a new slave in, but kept the stock master. As you can see from my sig, i have quite a few bolt on mods and headers and such. And so far, i have had no problems with slipping or shifting. It launched great every time, even with 315 drag radials.. Im putting nitrous on the car soon, and im going to upgrade the clutch soon after to a spec or a centerforce DF... Gunna need the extra "hold"...

Re: Z06 clutch If you wore out the stock '00 clutch, the Z06 clutch probably won't go much further (mileage-wise). The *only* thing on the clutch itself that is updated is the pressure plate. Everything else is as it has been since '98.
I installed one last year. Didn't last long, although my car had more hp than the clutch was rated at.

Re: Z06 clutch After 2 stockers, a Z06 clutch ( 12K out of it, 330hp ), I finally went with an iron sintered RAM clutch. Don't bother with the Z06; it just puts off the inevitable.

Re: Z06 clutch I improperly posted earlier that I had broken a McLeod twin. The car went up on the rack today, and it turned out to be a broken (carbon fiber) driveshaft. It fooled a bunch of us, since it did not make any noise and acted like a broken clutch at the track.
