are you sure it's the trans and not the rear-end or something belt driven on the engine? Did you replace the pilot bearing or any internal bearings? When does the whine happen, driving, idleing, clutch engaged, clutch disengaged? Need more info.

not the best help but i was running synchromesh in my t56 after having it rebuilt by Joe and Amber @t56rebuilds (rebuild is great, Joe and Amber are the greatest) and they said to run Mobil 1 ATF. sorry i couldnt be more help.

i believe that you will be getting noise from the bronze fork pads breaking in, this is what they told me as well. this noise should go away or soften after some time, i would guess after about 3-500 miles. how many miles do you have on your new trans?

Give us a call. Some whining is normal but it should not get louder. It could be the pilot bearing. The best thing to do is call us and tell us what exactly what it is doing. It is possible that it is something else making the noise like the rear but no really way to tell. If it never went away it is possible that it was not the tranny but it is also possible that whatever was making the noise we did not think needed replacing.

If you can give me a call on my cell today. 832-488-0533 and let me know what all it sounds like.

Thanks,
Amber

Oh and we do not recommend amsoil. The only fluid that we use is either Mobil 1 ATF or Royal Purple Synchromax. You might want to change the fluid and see if it helps. Mobil 1 is what the tremec rep told us they will warranty parts against.

Thanks,
Amber

Okay bushing should be fine then. Try the mobil 1. What about tranny mount? If it is a poly one it transfers more vibration and noise.

After looking extensively at the different oils available, I think Mobil 1 is the better choice of the two. I just put some in my rebuilt trans today (courtesy of T-56 rebuilds), and it is quieter than it was with the Specialty Formulations MTF Glide that was in there (which was a bit thicker, but still fully synthetic). And while you're at it, swap back to a rubber trans mount for a little bit and see if it helps...it is a pretty quick swap. Mine doesn't make ridiculous noise, though, and I run poly motor AND tranny mounts.

Luckily the stuff is easy to find...poly TA mount could be messing with you as well, but I'd kinda doubt it.

Don't ever use synchromesh with these trannies! Synchromesh has been proven by gm and outside sources to cause premature wear.

You can use synchromesh, but it tends to be a bit thick. More wear? Never heard that one...where's the proof?
