Default Spec 1 or 0Z700?

Hey guys,
I am doing an LS1 Swap into my LT1 car. Due to other reasons, I sold the 396 this weekend and took delivery of a LS1. I'm clutch shopping now, I might toss a cam in the motor. Otherwise it'll be a mild bolt on car, stock internals maybe some spray. Who knows...my question is I read that Textrailia is the best thing since Sliced Bread apparently. So I might be asking a Dee DeeDee question here but ooo well...

Option 1
Spec Stage 1 with a Fidanza Aluminum flywheel ($590 both to my door NEW)

Option 2
Textralia 0Z700AB $1200

Alternate to Option 2
Textralia ExoSkel

Tell me what you guys think. This nect winter (Winter of 07) I might depending on funds to a Turbo LS1. I just want a clutch that will last, some people get decent life from the Spec, others it ***** on them in 3-4K or less....

Just figuring maybe I can save some cash for now till I need the big dog clutches going with a Spec.

There is no comparison between those 2. Don't even think of a Spec 1, you are better off with a ZO6 clutch. Tex by a mile.

Hmmm should I go 0z700AB, or the ExoSkel then?

Only reason I was thinkin of doin the Fidanza and Spec was to save some money for other parts of the swap...

I'm an ASE Tech so I have acess to a lift, and can do the install on my own. I know I wouldn't wanna pull the tranny out for a clutch replacement in a year, so if it's worth the extra then I guess I will be going that route...

I think the Aluminum Textralia has been discontinued. I was looking at that one as well but I was recommended and bought the Billet Steel OZ700 for $966 shipped from WS6store >

For a street car that sees occasional track time, I'd go with the OZ700 over the ExoSkel for driveability reasons. If you're stuck on going with an aluminum flywheel, we normally recommend the ExoSkel for those customers. Give me a call or PM and we can talk more specifically about your setup and how you drive it...then we can decide which clutch is best for you!

Hey guys,
thanks for the info...I ended up just going with a LS7 clutch kit from Byun for $439, maybe next winter when I plan on doing a turbo, or something I'll get a beefier clutch, but the LS7 will be plenty for a bolt on stock motor and saved me money for my swap!!

No, because Tex balances their assemblies. You would be going against the design of the clutch.

I'm looking at a Text clutch (dunno which one yet...taking suggestions)

I don't understand the pricing on the site. I've been told about the different types they sell, but I only see (1) listed.

How are they selling the clutch for 980.00 then add a steel fly for only 100.00 more? Alluminum for 200.00 more???

I sent a PM to Textralia a few days ago...no reply

spec 1 supposedly is only good to 400h.p. i wouldn't spray it, or cam it...

i too am thinking of the spec 1, but just as a budget DD clutch that i wont be racing.
if i was racing the car at all i wouldn't even think about the spec1.

Is that with the fly wheel? Im going to be seeing alot of street time so the LS7 clutch looks like my best choice and its OEM so its made to last along time.
